After 12 years, our restaurant on the Sonoma plaza will be winding down. The outpouring from the town has made the end bittersweet.

I’ve loved entertaining friends from around the country and the world at Oso Sonoma. But alas, it’s the restaurant business. What can I say?😢

As somebody who lived my young adult years in the late ‘70s and early ‘80s, I faced this past week with the mixed emotions of fond memories and sadness of passing.

Let’s do the Time Warp - me on stage at Club Med Paradise Island (a.k.a . overnight camp for sexually active 20-somethings).

The icons of my youth live on in the lives they touched and their body of work. And memories live on in the precious photos that were captured on film and taken to the drugstore for development (when color film and processing cost more than black and white).

The tomato plants don’t like me. They make my skin itch. But the tasteless store-bought alternatives are no match for what grows in our Sonoma vegetable garden.

So the itch can be showered away and so worth it, especially for the striped heirlooms. 😋

When a car is more than a ride.

I just retrieved my T-Bird from 9 months in the shop. It needed a functioning instrument cluster … a part that Ford no longer makes. The process of finding and installing the reclaimed cluster was … you guessed it … a real cluster #%¥^.

More than one friend suggested I just get rid of it. But I couldn’t bear the thought and here’s why.

When I got the car it inspired me and some dear friends to launch an annual road rally we call The Topless Tour. With few exceptions, we traveled together every year, covering most of America and, this year, Italy.

Although my Thunderbird has not been part of every trip, it’s truly been part of my life.

So for now, as my T-Bird and I have grown older together (my hair is now mostly gray and the T-Bird’s analog speedometer now reads boldly in Kilometers per Hour), we’re still going strong and ready to reminisce and make new memories together. 🛣️

What better way to spend a midsummer evening than with besties at an outdoor concert.🎵
I thought Counting Crows was one of the very best of the many concerts I’ve experienced at The Hollywood Bowl.
Steve thought it was the worst😏.
Mini-generation gap … or just different strokes…?
