Plant Magic By Ndidi

I want to share some of my favorite herbs that support the immune system. This is especially relevant after my partner recently caught a cold. Our immune system protects our body against infections caused by bacteria, viruses, parasites, and fungi, and it eliminates disease-causing pathogens from our body. Besides, it can recognize and neutralize harmful substances from the environment and fight against changes in our bodies that can cause diseases. Therefore, taking care of our immune system is essential to improve our immune function and overall health.

Although there are many herbs to choose from, the great thing about the ones above is that most can be easily found in your kitchen. I like to prepare large batches of tea with rooibos, elderberry, ginger, lemon, and oregano, which I sweeten with local raw honey. This way, the tea is ready to reheat, making it convenient to consume. For a more potent immune-boosting concoction, I add some elderberry elixir to make hot toddies.
