What an evening🤩. ARMEA Letila Mitchell's stunning documentary on Rotuman culture and the sacred hån lep he rua women, Rako Pasefika lit up the screen at Boulevard 14 — and the room felt it. We started with a Sip & Shop at Obsessed Shop, followed by a sea of red for Rotuma, and closed the night in true islander form: dinner together at Simmer Vietnamese Kitchen.
Film, fashion, food, family. This is what our film screening series is about. Vinaka to everyone who showed up — this is only the beginning.
It's not a secret but it is pretty private.. Brunches in Napa with Mustafa Tolosa.. it's a whole vibe🤩🥂🍻

What a night to remember! We had an absolute blast with AAPI Coalition of North Bay celebrating alongside the legendary Chef Martin Yan — because if Yan can cook, so can you! 👨🍳✨
One of our proudest moments: garlanding Chef Martin Yan with a Fijian salusalu — a traditional garland woven as a symbol of honor, love, and welcome. Watching our culture drape the shoulders of a man who has spent decades bringing Asian cuisine into millions of homes? That's what representation looks like.
Vinaka vakalevu AAPI Coalition of North Bay for including our people and our Fijian culture in this grand event. When the Pacific has a seat at the table, the whole table is richer for it. 🇫🇯
Culture is the runway — even in the kitchen.

How important is culture, and how do we preserve it? What does it mean to carry your culture home? This is one of the pressing issues with indigenous cultures.
Through the lens of Letila Mitchell and Rako Pasefika, ARMEA follows Rotuman dancers on their journey back to Rotuma, where dance is more than performance. It is preservation. It is home, and it is intentional. Every movement is memory, identity, and belonging.
This is a story of cultural preservation told by the people living it — and you're invited. ARMEA screens Tuesday, July 21, 2026 at Boulevard 14 Cinema, Petaluma.
Dress code: Red for Rotuma.

“If you listen to nature, it will lead the way…” Elder Gagaj Taimanav
Steeped in symbolism and no larger than a child’s hand, the diminutive bird known as the Armea is found in only one place on Earth: the Pacific island of Rotuma.
After scores of performances around the world and years away from Rotuma, ARMEA opens as the dedicated dancers and musicians of Rako Pasefika make their long-awaited return home to the island.
Arriving by air yet received just as their seafaring predecessors were, the Rako team engages with creative elders in the hopes of revitalizing ancient stories that are in danger of being forgotten. As Rako prepares to perform a new production inspired by the totemic Armea, their relationships with elders, knowledge keepers, healers, artisans and cultural custodians reveal deep and reciprocal connections to this ancient land and to the immense ocean from which it rises.
Both an offering to those who have guided the way — such as the hån lep he rua sacred women — and a promise to sustain sacred artforms for generations to come, ARMEA is an ode to all that is small yet sacred.
This July, we are hosting a private screening of Armea by Letila Mitchell. One night only, wear a splash of Red for Rotuma and come join us.
