Most clients show me a shade. I start by asking where the previous lightener still lives.

This client returned two years after her previous Airtouch wanting a low maintenance purple/lavender. Her naturally dark base was approximately level 2 in the European system / 4 in the Japanese system, while older lightened color remained through the lengths. That history mattered as much as the inspiration color.

Before lightening, I used a chelating treatment (making sure metal ions won’t be extra reactive) rebuilt the haircut and removed much of the previous color. I then dried and mapped a new Airtouch placement around the hair that remained before layering oxidative and non-oxidative pigments. For this client I used Milbon SOPHISTONE Lightener, with polyshield, and ORDEVE Addicthy, followed by my Liquid Hair finish.

Why manage the canvas before choosing the final shade? On a strong yellow base, part of the violet can be spent neutralizing warmth. The visible result may read more muted or beige instead of clearly purple. The formula matters, but it cannot be separated from what is underneath it.

The photographs show the immediate result in salon and window light: dimensional violet, reflective movement and a healthy looking finish. They do not prove that processed hair became undamaged or establish how the color will fade over several weeks.

If you are considering vivid color, save the three consultation questions on the final slide. A thoughtful plan should account for where your hair has already been lightened and what your next appointment will require and not only how the color looks today.

Your hair color planning shouldn’t be a once and done, it should align with your future hair goals and demand a realistic and sustainable maintenance, so your new look can be an Era, and not a glimpse 😋

Most leave in repair masks make one mistake.

They promise healthier hair, but they turn application into a battle. Hair tangles, sections stick together, and getting even distribution becomes almost impossible.

The NatureLab.TOKYO Kiseki Leave In Repair Mask surprised me because it solved the part no one talks about.

On damp hair after shampoo, it glides through effortlessly, instantly improves slip, detangles beautifully, and makes application feel almost luxurious. By the time I finished blow-drying, the hair looked polished, soft, and incredibly healthy.

Performance isn’t just about the ingredients. It’s also about how easily a formula lets you achieve the result.

This one gets both right.

Have you tried it yet?

My first Cosmoprof North America was quite a memorable one!
I got to connect with new friends and existing ones, got to learn what’s new up and coming to our industry, have meaningful conversations with brands that actually appreciate feedback from Stylists, got to know brands founders and reps that really took the time to share their passion and vision, and last but not least got to share with multiple brands, national and international ones, my personal passion and unconventional skill set as an experienced Stylist that expanded into Cosmetic Chemistry! So many seeds were planted, I am looking forward to what comes next out of these beautiful and meaningful connections 😊😋

Another day, another Hairview 🇯🇵
Today I tested the Damage Repair & Color Care line from Japan and honestly, this is a great example of how Japanese mass market haircare often focuses more on sensorial performance and hair feel than flashy claims.

The marketing talks about rice extracts, botanical repair, cuticle sealing, and color care… but from a formulation standpoint, the real stars here are the conditioning agents, cationic polymers, fatty alcohols, and amodimethicone doing the heavy lifting behind the scenes.

The result?
Softness, shine, smoother cuticles, reduced friction, better combability, and less frizz on damaged hair.
Not miracle repair.
Not rebuilding broken disulfide bonds.
Just a solid conditioning system that understands damaged hair behavior.
And honestly sometimes good formulation is exactly that.

Last November when I went to Japan, I got my hands on some exclusive hair products I had been wanting to study for the longest time, and on hair styling products category this one immediately stood out to me.

This is Elujuda Extra Repair Milky Serum from .japan , and the formula behind it makes this product quite an experience 😎

Instead of just coating damaged hair, it uses technologies like CMADK keratin, lightweight oils, UV protection, and layered amino functional silicones designed to create softness, movement, shine, and that fluid healthy texture Japanese haircare does so well.

As both a hairstylist and cosmetic chemist, this is the kind of formulation philosophy that leaves me in awe 🫢

The hair doesn’t just look healthy, it also moves healthy.

Platinum beige without going grey, here’s the part most people miss😭😭😭

Everyone tries to cancel warmth…
but if you remove all warmth, the fade goes green.

So I actually added a touch of red back into the formula to keep the tone balanced over time.

This client was a deep cherry red 6 months ago😱😱😱
and we got here with shine, integrity, and zero muddiness using my technique.

Thankful to .education .japan for making a no brown base oxidative hair color that doesn’t go muddy or dull, I’m forever addicted to see what I did there??? 🫣😬😝

Would you wear this tone or go cooler? 👇
