Journey Fertility Tattoos

I’m so sorry you’re on this horrible journey. Give yourself grace and try to keep your head up, give yourself permission to enjoy that Friday early evening cocktail, have that big mug of coffee, and cheat a little on your diet. That’s kind of our motto at , it’s the only way to keep going. Treat yourself to some of our tattoos to make this process a little bit better.

Sharing some of my story. This is from 2021 but my fertility journey started in 2016. We began treatment for our second child in early-mid 2020 but this timeline starts in 2021. I will fill in the gaps in future posts.

Fertility in a year (2022)
January - coming back from 3 month break of thinking about fertility (1 egg retrieval and 3 FETs in 2021)
February- transfer fourth and last embryo (FET #4) from clinic #1 - failed
March - consult with new clinic
April - birth control
May - egg retrieval at new clinic, got 6 normal embryos!
June - ERA, Emma/Alice, consult with Dr. Aimee () aka the MVP
July - FET #5 at new clinic. Pregnant!
August - see heartbeat, omg the embryo split… twins!!
September- transferred to OB clinic (still in shock embryo split)
October - seeing MFM and OB (twins.. seriously??)
November - cancelled trip for the holidays bc hospital stay for dynamic cervix, being monitored for possibly surgery but then end up taking vaginal progesterone.
December - modified bed rest. halfway there! Due April 2023

With every shot for egg retrieval, mock cycle, FET x 5, TWW, and pregnancy, I had to give myself a daily pep talk when it came to injections. Who ever really gets used to needles? Some are smaller than others. Some medicines sting less than others. Regardless, I had to take a deep breath in and then breathe out as the needle went in. As each needle went in, I would say to myself that I’ve got this, this is for my (future) baby, this is the best for my baby, and I can DO hard things. My tattoo was a nice little reminder.

What if it all goes right this time?
We just have to believe and keep hoping.

The act and thought of hoping took me some time. As I learned calligraphy, I wrote the words hope and believe often just trying to convince myself that I had just that. It took some time but now I truly believe and I do hope.

Oh man I need this quote today, well for the past few months. It is so hard to stay positive during and even after infertility. You never really feel like you’re in the “safe zone” until your baby is in your arms.

I think I am going to put on a tattoo today! How about you?
