My mission is to inspire you to see your hair as a reflection of your individuality and strength. Finding and figuring out this “script” became life’s search.
Together, we’ll create a look that’s bold, confident, and undeniably you. Hair has been a passion of mine long before I realized I wanted to do it professionally. Early on, I was expressing myself through my own personal style and hairstyles. It wasn’t until years later that I realized I wanted to help you with yours, too. When I was in my late teens I came close to enrolling in a cosmetology prog
ram in Colorado but life had other plans for me at the time. Wanting to be a hairstylist was never really all that far out my mind, though. During the years that followed, I found a hidden passion for the arts, performing on stage with a community theater group in my hometown. Growing up shy and on the quiet side, theatre drew me out of my shell and helped me express myself in ways that had always been a little difficult. Finding something you love and doing it to your hearts content was the “script”, so to say, that seemed to be missing. There have been a few detours along the way, but working behind the chair has always been just under the surface. All of those detours have contributed to who and what I am today. Whether it was putting a lover through cosmetology school (wishing it was actually me who was going), being a receptionist in the salon he co-owned (I even did some tile work in that salon during a remodel), or working for a distributor - first in customer service, then credit, and working directly with sales consultants and stylist, I was getting a good sense of the business. So, finally making the decision to work behind the chair was the next logical step. A few nudges from great friends may have contributed, too.

Don't let price be your first consideration when finding a new barber or stylist -- your haircut is such a huge part of your total look, so don't skimp with a cheap haircut. Conversely, just because the haircut costs a lot, doesn't mean it's great (I've fixed almost as many high priced haircuts as I have cheap haircuts). The Deva Cut: The Deva cutting technique is a uniquely different and proven method for curl cutting. The Deva Cut is performed using only a scissor and nothing else. I’m your guy. A Deva Inspired Stylist is an important step toward learning and living the Curly Girl/Guy lifestyle. Establishing A Curly Foundation: My goal is to inspire curly girls and guys to adopt a healthier attitude toward curls and LOVE their hair. Curl care is the important first step toward embracing your natural curls and waves. Finding a stylist to carefully tend to your curls can be difficult. There is an art to cutting and coloring curly hair and unfortunately, many stylists lack the proper training. My training includes attended a DevaCurl workshop to master the art of caring for curly hair from the most basic principles to the most advanced cutting, highlighting and styling techniques targeted specifically for all natural curl types. DevaCurl workshops serve as supplementary training for stylists to advance their existing knowledge base. The goal is that all participating stylists adopt the Deva philosophy and flawlessly execute the Deva techniques. A Deva Inspired Stylist is not licensed nor certified by DevaCurl. Stylists are licensed by the state board in the state they currently reside.
