Let’s talk lash extension retention ✨
One thing we should understand is having good retention is a 2 person job. The artist and the client.
This is where educating clients on proper after care as well as having good practices is key.
Clients should understand shampooing lashes daily can lead to better retention. Things like saunas, and steam can cause poor retention. Medications that affect hormones can also affect retention.
Expectations should be set of how often fills will be needed. Lash extensions should still be at least 50% - 70% full between appointments depending on how they are cared for. It is normal to lose some as telogen lashes shed, but they should look decent between fills.
It is important for the artist to know what humidity and room temp works best for the adhesive they are using and to replace glue when the manufacturer recommends after opening.
Using proper adhesive amount, knowing how to wrap lashes and placement also affects lash retention.
