Rich chestnut brown š¤
For this All-Over Custom Color, we wanted something deep and polished that still had warmth and movement instead of reading flat or overly dark.
Inside, it gives that rich brunette feel. Step into the sunlight and you get all of those soft chestnut and warm reddish-brown tones coming through.
I love colors like this because they look completely different depending on the lighting - subtle indoors, glowing outside.

Soft, rich dimension š¤
This one was all about keeping the overall look natural while adding enough contrast and brightness to give the hair movement and interest.
I love a brunette that still has little ribbons of light running through it - enough to keep it dimensional without taking away from that rich, glossy base.
Soft. Blended. Gorgeous.

Some hair goals take more than one appointment - and thatās exactly how we planned this one. š¤
When she first came to me, her goal was to move away from the red, get lighter, add dimension, and eventually land in a softer, cooler-toned brunette/blonde.
Session one: color correction. We started breaking through the existing red while protecting the integrity of her hair and creating a foundation we could continue building on.
Session two: more brightness, more dimension, and goodbye to the remaining red. šš
This time we were able to really refine the color and give her the cooler, dimensional finish she had been working toward.
And THIS is why I love taking progress photos. Sometimes the biggest transformations arenāt meant to happen in one marathon appointment - they happen thoughtfully, session by session.
Also, she is genuinely one of those clients I look forward to seeing. We always have the best time, talk about everything under the sun, and somehow end up with pretty hair at the end too. šš¤

Sometimes you donāt need more highlights - you just need a really good refresh.
She wanted to tone things down a bit without covering up the blonde she already had through the ends, while also softening and blending the gray at her root.
So we kept it simple with a root melt + gloss.
The root melt helped soften the contrast and blend her grays, while the gloss toned the blonde, added richness, and brought everything back together without taking away the dimension she already had.
The result is softer, shinier, more blended.
Proof that sometimes the best color appointment isnāt about doing more - itās about refining whatās already there.

Gray transition doesnāt have to happen overnight.
When she first came to me, she had been coloring her hair for years but was ready to start embracing her natural gray.
The key word was start.
She didnāt want a dramatic overnight change, so we decided to take it slowly and let her adjust little by little.
During her first gray transition session, we focused mainly on adding softness and brightness through the root area and around the front hairline so her natural gray could begin blending in more naturally.
For session two, we took it a step further - adding more gray throughout the root area and front, then pulling a few lighter pieces through the ends to continue breaking up the old color.
And you can already see the difference. Swipe to see the transition from starting point through the second session.
The goal with gray transition isnāt always to make everything gray immediately. Sometimes itās about creating a softer path between where youāve been and where youāre going - while keeping the hair wearable through every stage.
Weāre not finished yet, but she is well on her way. š¤

One of my favorite little wash-day rituals has been a DIY hot oil treatment.
I use a blend of coconut, olive, sweet almond, jojoba, castor + argan oils to help my hair feel softer, smoother + more manageable before shampooing.
I shared my full recipe, how I customize it for different hair types, and exactly how I use it at home on the blog.
If your hair has been feeling dry, rough or just needs a little extra TLC, this is an easy one to try.

One of my favorite little monthly traditions.
These two are my only mom + daughter duo, and I genuinely look forward to seeing them every month.
For daughter, we did a fresh black color refresh + trim to bring the richness and shine back.
For mom, we refreshed her color and cleaned up her short razor cut to keep all that texture she loves.
Two completely different looks, one standing appointment, and always such a good time.
I love getting to be part of these little routines with my clients - especially when the salon visit becomes something they get to enjoy together.

A little less bright, a lot more dimension.
She came in feeling like her blonde had gotten a little too light overall and wanted to soften things up without feeling too dark.
So for this Medium Impact Dimensional Blonding session, we added depth back in, toned down some of the brightness, and created more contrast throughout.
The result is still blonde - just softer, richer, and more balanced.
Sometimes adding a little depth is exactly what makes the blonde pop again.

Some appointments are about so much more than hair. š¤
From the moment we started talking, I had one of those āwe were meant to meetā feelings.
Sheās walking through a season that reminded me so much of one Iāve been through myself, and somewhere between foils, processing and lots of conversation, I got the opportunity to encourage her a little, remind her of who she is, and hopefully send her out of my chair feeling a little more confident than when she came in.
And THEN thereās the hair. š
Weāre calling this one "expensive rich blonde"
For her Medium Impact Dimensional Blonding session, we added brightness while intentionally keeping + adding plenty of depth and dimension. The result is a soft, rich blonde that has contrast, movement and that beautiful lived-in feel instead of one solid wall of blonde.
She is an absolute gem, and I genuinely enjoyed every minute of our time together. These are the appointments that remind me how grateful I am that this little career change brought so many incredible people into my chair.
