Respite care is a necessary tool to prevent caregiver burnout and maintain your physical and mental health. πŸ’–

Why Respite Care Matters:

Burnout Prevention: Caregiving is a 24/7 duty that causes extreme physical and mental exhaustion. Taking a break stops stress from reaching a breaking point.

Better Long-Term Care: Resting allows you to return with more patience, energy, and empathy. Taking care of yourself directly improves the care your loved one receives.

Health and Balance: Regular breaks give you time for sleep, exercise, medical appointments, and personal relationships that often get pushed aside.

Support for the Recipient: Temporary relief lowers the risk of emergency hospitalizations and can delay the need for permanent facility placement.

We have resources and support for Respite Care... how may we support you best?

*One thing for your body πŸšΆβ€β™€οΈπŸšΆ

Take a walk. Stretch. Drink water. Sit outside. 🌳

*One thing for your mind 🧠

10 minutes without caregiving information, news, social media or problem-solving. 🚫

*One thing for your heart πŸ’

Look at an old photo. Listen to music. Call a friend. Cry if you need to. 🎢

*One thing just for YOU πŸ₯°

Do something that has absolutely nothing to do with caregiving. πŸ§˜β€β™€οΈπŸ›ŒπŸ˜΄

We say β€œfill your cup” all the time.

But caregivers don't need another clichΓ©.

They need permission, practical help, and someone reminding them that they count.

That's why The Caregiving Corner exists! πŸ’–

β€œA place for the caregiver who spends all day taking care of everyone else.” 🫢

It's ok to do something nice for yourself πŸ’–

Every little thing helps and it's the feeling behind what you do, that you deserve to be kind to yourself too!

I created products because I have been hurting... physically, emotionally, grieving... and when you pray and ask and search, sometimes help comes through others

We aren't meant to go through things alone πŸ’–

Talking to Caregivers and supporting what they want and need, I found some things that have helped... If you are needing and wanting some extra love and support, check out the link in the comments πŸ’– The Caregiving Corner ✨

Misconception (Myth) VS. The Reality (Fact)

"Alzheimer's and dementia are the exact same thing."

Dementia is an umbrella term for a group of symptoms affecting memory and thinking.

Alzheimer's disease is a specific brain disease and the most common cause of dementia, accounting for roughly 40% to 45% of cases.

Severe memory loss is just a natural part of aging.
"Occasional forgetfulness (like misplacing keys) is normal. Forgetting the names of family members, getting lost in familiar places, or losing the ability to manage daily tasks are not normal parts of aging.

Schedule an appt with your Dr if you feel your loved one or yourself may have some struggles and get tested sooner than later πŸ’œ

Things caregivers wish people understood:

Examples:

β€œI'm tired even when I haven't done anything physical.”
β€œI need help before I reach my breaking point.”
β€œSometimes I just want someone to listen.”
β€œI love them. I'm still exhausted.”
β€œI need a break without having to explain why.”

What would you add?

These can go along with feelings of grief too... πŸ’–

The Caregiving Corner exists to help caregivers where and how they need it most, and we can't know what caregivers actually need unless we listen.

So tell us.

A meal? Housecleaning? Respite? Transportation? A support group? Help navigating resources? Something we haven't thought of?

What's one thing that would genuinely make your life easier right now?
