Hobbit Day is a name used for September 22 in reference to its being the birthday of the hobbits Bilbo and Frodo Baggins. Bilbo was born in the year of 2890 and Frodo in the year of 2968 in the Third Age (1290 and 1368 respectively in Shire-Reckoning).

The American Tolkien Society first proclaimed Hobbit Day and Tolkien Week in 1978, and defines them as this: "Tolkien Week is observed as the calendar week containing September 22, which is always observed as Hobbit Day".

A lot of people have had to start coloring their own hair. It’s not ideal for us as hair colorists. The economy affects us all. I have noticed a drop of 50% in my color services since last year. I am willing to offer hair color formulation services for those that still want to color their hair but can’t afford to pay to have it done. I have rearranged all my handmade crochet items. I have been crocheting like crazy for the booths I had booked for this year. All of these items are available for purchase. The silly bags are my favorite to make.

Time for Chemo creations. I have been crocheting while I wait for my hubby’s chemo treatments. I try to do silly characters to try to cheer him up. He liked today’s creation. He said he wants to keep him. I told him I will make him something else. He isn’t a super fan of Pokemon. Today was a Pokemon character. I have been working on a Pokemon Collection for our booth at the upcoming Anime Convention in St George next month.

What was your favorite Dolly moment? Mine was her salon in Steel Magnolias. That show inspired me for what I wanted my salon to feel like. I wanted everyone to feel like family when they came to my salon. Come be you! Be genuine all the good all the hard real parts of life shared as a community. Dolly Parton did so much good for so many people. Let’s follow her example and try to do more good. Show more kindness, compassion for those we come in contact with. We can make the world a better place if we can choose kindness over criticism.
