Your bathroom mirror may be hiding your progress.

When you look at your skin every day, it’s easy to focus on every new breakout and miss what is actually improving.

In the before photo, we can see more active breakouts and inflammation. In the after photo, her skin is calmer and there are fewer active breakouts.

She still has some marks that need time to fade, but this is real progress.

Clear skin doesn’t always happen all at once. Sometimes progress looks like less inflammation, fewer new breakouts and skin that is finally starting to settle down.

This is exactly why I take photos. The mirror shows you today. Progress photos help us see the bigger picture.

A breakout tells me what your skin is doing today.

The pattern helps me understand what may be happening underneath.

I’m looking at where the breakouts appear, what type they are, when they started, how your skin feels and whether they keep returning in the same areas.

Then we look at your products, medications, supplements, hormones, lifestyle and anything that regularly touches your skin.

One breakout won’t give us every answer… but patterns can lead us in the right direction.

That’s why I don’t just look at your skin and hand you a product. I want to help you understand the why behind what we’re seeing.

If you’re tired of guessing, start with a Comprehensive Skin Consultation at Rescue Esthetics.

If a moisturizer you normally tolerate suddenly starts to sting, pay attention.

Sometimes the product itself is the problem. But if your cleanser, moisturizer and even water are all starting to burn, your skin barrier may already be irritated.

This can happen from over cleansing, scrubbing, introducing too many products or layering more actives than your skin can handle.

This is not the time to exfoliate the flakes away. Keep things gentle, use lukewarm water and pause any unnecessary scrubs or exfoliants while your skin settles.

Your skin doesn’t always need more. Sometimes it needs a break.

I wasn’t planning on crying this morning… but here we are. 🥹

When I started Rescue Esthetics, I wanted people, especially teens struggling with acne, to feel welcomed, listened to and never judged.

Knowing that this sweet girl and her mom felt genuinely cared for means more to me than I can explain.

Acne can affect someone’s confidence so deeply. Being trusted to support them through that journey is something I will never take lightly.

To this mom… thank you for taking the time to write this. I am incredibly grateful for your trust and for every client who allows me to care for their skin.

This is exactly why I do what I do. ❤️

“Save Your Skin” is more than a sign on my wall… it’s the reason Rescue Esthetics exists.

I want you to understand your skin, know why we’re making each change and finally feel like you have a plan that makes sense.

Acne is complicated, but understanding your skin shouldn’t be.

This is the face you’ll see when you walk into Rescue Esthetics… and I promise, you never have to apologize to me for your skin. You don’t need to explain why you wore makeup, picked at a breakout or haven’t followed a perfect routine.

Acne is frustrating, painful and incredibly personal. By the time many clients come to see me, they’ve already tried so many things and feel like they’ve somehow failed. You haven’t failed.

I’m not here to judge your skin. I’m here to help you understand it, figure out what may be getting in the way and create a plan that feels realistic.

Come exactly as you are. We’ll start there.

One of the most frustrating things about acne is feeling like a breakout appeared overnight.

But many acne lesions begin beneath the surface as tiny blockages called microcomedones. We can’t see them yet, but they may eventually develop into blackheads, whiteheads or inflamed breakouts.

This is why I don’t want you chasing every new pimple with a different product.

Consistency helps us work on what you can see today… and what may already be developing underneath.

It’s also why we don’t stop a routine the second your skin looks clear. Clear skin still needs support to stay clear.

Save this for the day you’re tempted to give up on your routine because a new breakout appeared.

One of my favorite parts of a facial has nothing to do with the facial itself…. It’s the conversation.

When someone tells me they’ve tried everything, I want to know what EVERYTHING means. What have you used? What made things worse? When did your skin change? What are you still confused about?

The treatment matters, but understanding your skin matters too.

I don’t want you to leave with glowing skin but no idea what we did or why we did it. I want you to understand what I’m seeing, what your skin may need and what you can do between appointments.

Because the more you understand your skin, the better decisions you can make for it.

What’s one thing you wish someone would explain about your skin?

Have you ever noticed more breakouts after starting a new workout routine, hiking more often or spending extra time outside? Exercise itself isn’t necessarily the problem.

Sweat sitting on the skin, tight clothing, repeated friction and bacteria collecting on hats, helmets or straps can all contribute to irritation and congestion.

A few simple habits can help:

• Change out of sweaty clothing quickly
• Gently cleanse or rinse your skin
• Skip harsh scrubs and aggressive exfoliation
• Wash hats, towels and pillowcases regularly
• Wipe down anything that repeatedly touches your face or body

You don’t need to stop doing the activities you love. Sometimes your skin just needs a better after workout plan.

Save this for your next gym day, hike or pickleball match.
