“How much hair should I buy and how many rows will I need?”

The honest answer: it depends on your natural hair and your hair goals! Every head is different, which is why extensions should never be one-size-fits-all.

🪡 One row is typically perfect for adding fullness and volume.

🪡 Two rows can create both length and volume while helping everything blend naturally.

🪡 Three or more rows may be needed if your natural hair is shorter, thicker or has a blunt haircut that requires more hair for a seamless blend.

Your natural density, length, texture and desired end result all help determine exactly how much extension hair you’ll need. More hair doesn’t automatically mean a better result. The right amount, properly placed and customized to your head, is what creates comfortable, natural-looking extensions.

That’s why a consultation is so important! We’ll talk about your goals, look at your natural hair and create a plan specifically for you.

Did you know extension hair isn’t one-texture-fits-all?

When choosing your IBE® extension hair, we’re not just looking for the perfect color match. We’re also looking at the texture, density + natural movement of your hair so your extensions actually blend with what grows out of your head.

🤎 European hair tends to be a little fluffier, with more natural movement/wave. This is actually what I personally love wearing in my own hair!

🤎 Asian hair has a smoother, silkier feel—and within this tier we can choose from straight, wavy or curly textures depending on what works best for YOU.

But here’s the part I really want you to remember:

The more texture your extension hair has, the more moisture it needs.

As a general starting point with your Goldie Locks® Signature Serum:

✨ Straight → about 1–2 pumps daily
✨ Wavy → roughly double your straight-hair amount
✨ Curly → roughly double your wavy-hair amount

And LENGTH matters too! More hair = more product needed to properly moisturize those mids + ends.

Your extensions don’t receive the natural oils from your scalp like your biological hair does, so daily moisture isn’t an optional extra..it’s part of extension maintenance!

The goal isn’t just beautiful extensions on installation day. We want that hair staying soft, shiny + beautiful all the way until it’s time for a new set.

Can I wear my extensions in a high ponytail?

YES. 👏🏼 And not “eventually.” But the minute you walk out of the salon!!

Your extensions should be installed in a way that allows them to move naturally with your scalp
which means you should be able to wear your hair in a high ponytail, messy bun, low pony, claw clip… whatever your everyday life calls for. 🤍

A proper extension install should be:

✨ Comfortable
✨ Seamless
✨ Flexible
✨ Undetectable

You shouldn’t see beads or attachment points when your hair is up, and you shouldn’t feel like your scalp is being pulled in every direction.

And while a little awareness or tenderness after a fresh install can happen, significant pain should never be considered “normal.”

If you’re being told to go home, take Tylenol, and wait for your extensions to “loosen up”… 🚩🚩🚩

That isn’t something you should have to push through. Your extensions should feel comfortable from day one.

Let’s talk BRUSHING

How you brush your extensions matters more than you think!

My favorite way to brush:

• Gather your hair around ear level and hold it like a low pigtail. This takes some of the tension off your scalp + extension rows while you brush.

• Start at the ends and slowly work your way UP. Never start at the top and rip through tangles all the way down.

• Separate your rows! I like to lift each row and brush underneath + in between so I’m actually getting those little tangles that like to hide between the rows.

• And YES, you can brush over your rows! Just be gentle around your corners and use an extension safe brush.

Those tiny tangles between your rows can turn into much bigger tangles if they’re ignored for 6–10 weeks between appointments😅

The goal isn’t just pretty extensions on install day… it’s keeping your natural hair AND your extension hair healthy between appointments.
