If you’ve ever been in my chair, you know two things:

1. There’s a solid chance I forgot to take pictures/videos of your hair.
2. If I DID take them, there’s a solid chance I’ll post them somewhere between 3 months and 3 years later. 🫣

Content is a LOT of work, okay?! 😂

But TODAY? Neena deserves a same-day post. 💜🩷

Neena came to my salon for the very first time today after growing her hair out for over a YEAR for this appointment. The goal: an all-over platinum blonde with some purple hues. ✨

And I’ve been that client before. Finding someone new, going to a salon you’ve never been to, and trusting a complete stranger with a huge hair change can be intimidating.

But she came in ready and excited!

So we got to work.

Just shy of an hour spent foiling every. single. piece. of. hair. Then back through to apply closer to the scalp, let everything process, and finally…it was time to rinse.

Except—

I TURNED ON MY SHAMPOO BOWL AND THERE WAS NO WATER. 😰

Okay. No problem. We’ll go next door.

No water.

Downstairs to another business?

No water.

Turns out it wasn’t my suite.
It wasn’t our building.

THE WHOLE TOWNSHIP HAD THEIR WATER SHUT OFF FOR AN EMERGENCY.

At the EXACT moment I had a head full of lightener that very much needed to come out. 🫠

So HUGE shoutout to my friend Sarah at Sarah Laux • Michigan Curl Specialist🗝️ , who literally heated bottled water in an electric kettle and poured it into little pitchers so I could rinse every bit of lightener out of Neena’s hair. 😭

And just as we got it all rinsed…

the water came back on. 😂

But the biggest shoutout goes to Neena, who trusted me—a literal stranger she met TODAY—to figure it out, protect the hair she’d spent over a year growing, and make sure she left with not only all of her hair…

but BEAUTIFUL hair. 💜🩷

Because somehow, despite everything, WE DID THE DAMN THING. 😭✨

Neena, thank you, thank you, THANK YOU for trusting me today. Your first appointment with me is certainly one neither of us will ever forget. 😂💜
