Well, she is Broody……. And we don’t have a Rooster……. Should I swap some eggs and let her hatch or kick her out and hope it breaks…… I am a little worried about her being Broody in the heat of the summer… What do you think???

We finally opened up the hive… and WOW. 🐝🍯

The bees have been BUSY! One of the frames was almost completely filled and capped with honey, and it was covered in bees. We even got to scrape off a little taste but we’re holding off on harvesting for now.

They haven’t moved into the Flow Super yet, so we’re giving them more time to fill out the hive.

But our first honey harvest is getting VERY real, and I cannot wait to see what these girls produce. 🐝🍯

Follow along for the next hive update!

Prevention over Panic 🐓👩🏻‍🌾

One thing I’ve learned from keeping chickens is that staying ahead of the creepy crawlers is SO much easier than dealing with a full-blown problem later.

Every few months, I give the roosting bars, nesting boxes, and high-traffic areas a good spray with Premo Guard Poultry spray. It’s one of those simple coop-care steps I like keeping in our routine.

Because when it comes to the chicken coop, I’d much rather be proactive than playing detective later. 😂

Definitely one I like having in my chicken-keeping toolbox. 🐓
