Something new has made its way into Prairie Strands! 🍯🐝
I’m so excited to have The Kind Hive Co. now inside the salon!
Get to know the The Kind Hive Co. ⤵️
The Kind Hive Co. is a small family-owned business from Towner, ND, with honey produced by Maverick Honey Farms. What started with a passion for beekeeping grew into something even more meaningful for Philip and his wife, Brittany.
Their business was inspired by their daughter, Everly, who has Down syndrome. Through The Kind Hive Fund, a portion of their profits goes toward supporting individuals with Down syndrome and other intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Their hope is to make a little difference in people’s lives while doing something they love. Spreading kindness one jar at a time!
I’m so EXCITED to have a local, quality product like this available in the salon. Honey is one of those simple things I love having on hand at home. It has naturally occurring antimicrobial properties and contains antioxidants, and it’s especially nice to have in the cupboard as we head into cold and flu season. A spoonful in warm tea, lemon water, or simply enjoyed on its own is such a comforting little thing when you’re feeling under the weather.
I’m all about bringing things into Prairie Strands that feel intentional, local, and connected to taking care of ourselves.

I feel like I share a lot of what happens inside the salon, but not as much of what my days look like outside of it.
Mondays are usually my day to catch up at home and prep food for the week. Lately I’ve been on a little homemade beef + chicken stock kick, along with getting different things prepped and put away for the week. A lot of what I talk about with my guests in the salon being more intentional about the products we use, what we put on our bodies, and just taking better care of ourselves is also how I try to live at home.
So I guess here is a little glimpse of the other side of me when I’m not behind the chair.
PS: how nutritious does this look?!making stock is legit thee EASIEST thing to make while at home.

When I locked the door tonight and shut the lights off, I just stood there for a second and thought…
How did God know I was gonna sore?
How did this little space become a place where people come in for their hair, but somehow leave feeling lighter? A place where I get to talk about clean products, health, beauty, life, motherhood, faith sometimes all in the same appointment.
Today a guest texted me afterward and said, “I always leave feeling so much better.” And lately a thought has been coming to my head a lot….
I don’t know how I got this opportunity to feel like I’m in the glory of God. The glory of an overly blessed schedule. The glory of new & old guests just trusting me.I truly don’t know how God has allowed me to build something that feels so much bigger than I ever imagined…..
But I’m really, really grateful for it and now I’m crying 🤍✝️
