Why do I LOVE chopping someone’s hair so much?

Summer is here!!!

Your hair will get lighter, more dry and brittle if you do nothing while galavanting in and out of pools and salt water. Yay! (Why do we not have a sarcastic font… 🫣)

To help your hair keeps its amazing color, and stay hydrated here’s a few tips:

1. Your hair is like a sponge: if you wet it with fresh water and a bit of conditioner it’s less likely to soak up the damaging water in a pool or the ocean. (Extra points if you wet, condition, and braid it!)

2. Wear a hat in the sun. This keeps your color fresh, and yellow tones at bay

3. Use that mask you’ve been saving for a rainy day. It’s not gonna rain, you’re never gonna feel like it, just do it. Even if you don’t let it sit as long as it says, do it anyway.

4. If you are in the water and sun a lot, hold off on services like lowlights and smoothing treatments. The summer will wash your money and your services down the drain.

Make sure you apply the products that are meant for wet hair, to actually WET HAIR. And always COMB THROUGH to evenly distribute.

If you wait too long, your hair will be more dry in certain areas than others and the product will not distribute properly.

This leads to uneven style and possibly heavy/sticky spots in your hair.

While I want everyone to do this, This is especially true for curly girls! The wetter the better! (To a point, no need to walk around dripping everywhere…)

-Immediately after coloring your hair
-Every time you wash
-If your hair is chemically damaged
-on already compromised hair (without a plan)
-Don’t assume “squeaky clean” = healthy
-Don’t forget about your water quality (you may need a different type if you have hard water)

DO:
-use it when there’s buildup
-always follow with a deep conditioner or mask
-clarify before major services
-adjust frequency for hair type
-focus on the scalp first
-use lukewarm water

👉Use a round brush, but not until you’ve gotten a lot of the moisture out first.*

👉Mousse and Root Volumizer will help with volume and bounce

👉Thou shall have layers to achieve this look.

👉Hot rollers are not a bad idea for extra hold, volume and curl.

👉Too smooth will take away the care free look of this style, don’t obsess over a little fluff. Embrace your fluff!
