How are we liking the new addition to my office door? 🤣

My proprietary tattoo technique is designed to look like real skin. A camouflage tattoo should NOT be one color of ink, packed into a scar with a magnum needle. It needs to be approached from the eye of an artist. It should have texture, dimension, and imperfections, just like our own skin.
If you're interested in a tattoo for your scar, I have two locations located in Ogden Draper, Utah.
Facelift scars, tummy tuck scar, breast lift scars, self harm scars.

When it comes to more extreme scars like this, I always prefer to start with a test patch. Choosing the wrong ink recipe can lead to less-than-ideal healed results, so testing first gives us valuable information.

Six weeks later, we could clearly see that the test patch with more yellow gave us the best healed result. 🙌🏼

Today, she came back for her first full session using what we learned from that test patch. Stay tuned—I can’t wait to share how she heals! ✨

Don't forget, I have locations in both Ogden and Draper, Utah.

My favorite part of my job? Creating art that helps my clients keep their plastic surgery exactly where it belongs...their business. 🙌🏼

Because at the end of the day, you don’t owe anyone an explanation. 💗

This is my proprietary technique that creates hyper realistic results for my clients. All of my graduating students will be learning this technique in an upcoming continued education class (free for students).

All jokes aside, there's never any pressure to allow me to use your photos on social media.
I'm just happy to be your artist 🤎

Has this ever happened to you?

INKLESS TATTOOING + LICENSING ⚠️

Inkless tattooing is relatively new, and many states consider it microneedling rather than tattooing.

I learned this the hard way. Five years ago, I was fined $3,000 in Utah for performing inkless tattooing. My health department had told me it was okay—but the health department isn’t the only agency that matters.

Every state also has an agency or board responsible for professional licensing and scope of practice for estheticians, cosmetologists, medical professionals, etc. Approval from your health department does not necessarily mean you’re cleared by professional licensing. You need to check BOTH.

This is also why choosing the right camouflage trainer matters. If your training primarily teaches inkless techniques, what happens if your state decides you can’t legally perform them?

You should know how to perform true scar camouflage with tattoo pigment—including color theory, pigment chemistry and skin-tone matching—so removing inkless from your toolbox doesn’t leave you without a service.

I created this map based on my research into which states require professional licensing for microneedling. Unfortunately, regulations surrounding “inkless tattooing” itself aren’t clear in every state.

Please don’t use this map as legal advice. Do your own research and contact BOTH your health department and the agency responsible for professional licensing in your state. Ask specifically about microneedling without pigment for scar and stretch-mark revision.

A training certificate does not expand your legal scope of practice. 💗

The wrong pigment choice can turn a scar camouflage into a much bigger problem. This client was left with significant yellow/orange discoloration after iron-oxide-based pigment was implanted over her breast lift scars—and cases like this are exactly why I spend so much time teaching pigment chemistry, CI numbers, and alternatives to relying heavily on iron oxides in paramedical tattooing.

A huge thank you to my student Amy for finding this client and connecting us. Together, we’re going to work toward correcting the existing pigment and ultimately giving her a much better outcome. ❤️

If you’re a paramedical tattoo artist, learning how to camouflage a scar is only half the job. You need to understand what you’re putting into the skin, how those pigments may behave over time, and what other pigment options are available.

My in-person weekend trainings start at $3,000, and my Zoom trainings are $1,000 for artists who want to dive deeper into pigment selection, ink chemistry, iron-oxide alternatives, and creating more predictable healed results.

When you consider the cost of trying to fix a result like this—for both the artist and the client—education is a pretty small price to pay for peace of mind and more predictable outcomes.

I debated whether I should post these results because I couldn’t get my camera to focus on the scar in the after photo the same way it did in the before.

But then I realized… that’s kind of the point. 🤍

When a scar is camouflaged correctly, there’s less contrast, less definition, and ultimately less for the camera to focus on.

I don’t believe in filtering or editing my photos to make scars look softer or more blended than they actually are. What you see is what you get—and sometimes a camera struggling to find the scar is a pretty good result. ✨

At the end of the day, a great artist will make it very hard for anyone to tell you've had cosmetic surgery ❤️

Thinking about getting your stretch marks tattooed? Here are the PROS & CONS — from a confidence perspective. 🤍

5 PROS ✨

1. More confidence — feel less self-conscious about exposed areas.
2. Less contrast — camouflage helps stretch marks blend into the surrounding skin.
3. Long-lasting results — no daily makeup or temporary coverage.
4. Non-surgical — improve their appearance without surgery.
5. More freedom — feel more comfortable in swimsuits, shorts, dresses, or intimate situations.

5 CONS 🤔

1. They won’t disappear completely — tattooing improves the color difference, but not always the underlying texture.
2. Artist skill matters A LOT — poor color matching, pigment choice, or technique can make stretch marks more noticeable instead of less.
3. Healing takes patience — the color can look uneven or unusual before it fully settles.
4. Stretch marks are increasingly celebrated — pregnancy, growth, weight changes, muscle gain… sometimes those “battle scars” are something to be proud of.
5. Beauty standards are changing — stretch marks are becoming more normalized and even considered sexy, especially when they represent curves, strength, and a body you’ve worked hard for.

The goal isn’t perfect skin. It’s confidence.

Tattoo them if camouflaging them makes you feel confident.
Keep them if owning them makes you feel confident. ❤️

Either answer is the right one.
