Our latest journal post is all about embracing darkness. With the Fall Equinox in the rearview mirror, from here until December, darkness gains a few more minutes every day. The tendency is to treat this as a problem to solve: turn on more lights, keep the same schedule, maintain the same output… sound familiar? {Psst: You don’t have to!}

This time of year, it makes sense to slow down and become more intentional about when we seek light, and when we allow darkness.

Get outside in the morning. Open the curtains when you wake. Have coffee outside. Take the walk earlier. Morning light is one of the strongest signals for setting the body’s internal clock, so don’t save all your outdoor time for the end of the day when the light is already disappearing.

And when darkness comes, let some of it come. Turn off the overheads. Bring lamps down to eye level. Light the beeswax candles. The point isn’t to recreate life before electricity, just to give the body a clearer distinction between day and night.

Summer is very good at movement. Fall offers a chance to change the pace. Walk to the farmers market, choose fewer reps and more weight, try Yin yoga or Qi Gong, cook something that takes a little longer—and sit down (with candles!) to eat it. Longer, slower efforts suit the inward movement Fall invites.

The home can embrace stillness, too. Clear the crumbs from the pantry drawers and toss what’s expired. Wash the blankets, clean the humidifier, swap scented candles for the warm light of beeswax. Basically, take stock of what you have and what you need—there’s something both satisfying and clarifying about putting the house in order when the season changes.

SENOLYTIC BALM by MARIE VERONIQUE

Senescent cells, sometimes called “zombie cells,” are aging or stressed cells that have stopped dividing but haven’t cleared out, and can continue releasing signals associated with inflammation and visible signs of aging.

Senolytic Balm:
• Addresses cellular senescence to support healthier cell function
• Supports collagen production to help maintain firmness and resilience
• Defends against oxidative stress with a concentrated blend of antioxidants
• Replenishes essential lipids to strengthen the skin barrier and reduce moisture loss
• Deeply nourishes dry, depleted skin for a plumper, more supple appearance
• The ingredient is fisetin, a naturally occurring flavonoid that acts as a senolytic compound, helps reduce the accumulation of aged, stressed cells.
• Resveratrol, CoQ10, and THD Vitamin C provide additional antioxidant and collagen support, while jojoba oil, shea butter, and squalane replenish the skin barrier and seal in moisture.

Size: 1.7 oz / 50 g

Suggested Use: As the final step in your regimen, massage a pea-sized amount onto face, neck, and chest after serums, oils, and emulsions. May be used AM and/or PM. In the morning, follow with sunscreen.

🍎 Stewed Apples for Fall 🍎

As the seasons shift into fall, TCM encourages us to move away from an abundance of cold, raw foods and toward foods that are warm, cooked, and nourishing. Cooked fruit can be especially comforting for digestion as the weather cools.

Stewed apples are one of the simplest ways to embrace the season.

Why apples?
Apples are naturally rich in pectin, a type of soluble fiber that absorbs water and forms a gel-like substance in the digestive tract. Soluble fiber supports healthy digestion, helps nourish the gut microbiome, and can help support healthy cholesterol and blood sugar regulation.

Add fresh ginger for its naturally warming quality. In TCM, ginger is traditionally used to warm the digestive system and support the movement of Qi, making it a beautiful addition as we transition into cooler, drier weather. Other warming spices you can use are cinnamon, cardamom, and clove.

How to make them:

1. Chop 2–4 apples and add them to a small pot.
2. Add fresh ginger, cinnamon, a little cardamom or clove.
3. Add a small amount of water—just enough to create steam and prevent sticking.
4. Cover and cook over low heat for about 10–20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until soft and fragrant.
5. Enjoy warm on their own, or add to oatmeal, yogurt, chia pudding, or alongside a nourishing breakfast.

Fall is a natural invitation to slow down, warm up, and shift toward more cooked, grounding foods—supporting digestion while working with the seasonal rhythm rather than against it.

A simple bowl of stewed apples is a delicious place to begin. 🍂

MICRONEEDLING — The Perfect Fall Skin Treatment

Microneedling works with your skin’s natural healing process to stimulate collagen and elastin production—helping smooth, firm, and tone the skin while improving overall texture.

Professional microneedling can reduce the appearance of:

• Acne & surgical scars
• Stretch marks
• Dark spots
• Fine lines & wrinkles
• Enlarged pores
• Uneven texture & tone

At Boketto, treatments use professional-grade needles and carefully selected serums to support skin regeneration, hydration, collagen production, and recovery.

THE PROFESSIONAL BOOST BEHIND BETTER SKIN:
Take your Exceed Microneedling treatment one step further with the Lira Clinical Smart Booster PDRN+ for an additional $50.

This next-generation regenerative booster is formulated with advanced actives designed to calm inflammation and support the skin’s natural pathways for regeneration, resilience, and recovery. Added to your microneedling treatment, it helps create an environment that supports the skin as it repairs and renews itself—enhancing hydration, recovery, and overall skin quality.

Expect some redness for up to 48 hours, followed by a more radiant appearance as the skin begins to heal. Because collagen remodeling happens over time, a series of treatments may be recommended based on your skin and goals.

BIOLOGIQUE RECHERCHE MICRONEEDLING:
Our Biologique Recherche option pairs professional microneedling with advanced-formula serums selected to complement the treatment. The combination delivers targeted hydration, antioxidants, collagen-supporting ingredients, and pigment-reducing actives deeper into the skin for a more customized approach to tone, texture, and overall skin quality.

A consultation is required before your first treatment to determine whether microneedling is appropriate for your skin.

Book your consultation at Boketto Wellness, Anne, Heather, and Jelena are all available for microneedling.

Enjoy our free downloadable PDF “Honoringf Fall: A TCM APPROACH” by the Boketto Wellness team.

Through the lens of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), autumn is associated with the element Metal. The two organs in the Metal element, work together to eliminate what is unnecessary from our bodies while taking in the pure. The large intestine functions on the mental and spirit level— enabling us to let go of waste. The lung grants us the inspiration of a breath of fresh air, a new crispness. During this transitional season, we want to slow down, focus on what we have accomplished, and unburden ourselves by letting go of that which no longer serves us is recommended. Yin within Yang.

Boketto After Hours Presents: MEDITATION AS A LIVING PRACTICE

Join Ellie Burke at Boketto Wellness for a bi-weekly, 6-session Practice & Integration Group. A practical yet profound introduction to meditation as an integrated, living practice.

Sundays: 9/27, 10/11, 10/25, 11/8, 11/22, 12/6
4:30 - 5:30pm at Boketto 106 N Vine Street

Meditation can feel out-of-reach and inaccessible, if not impossible. It can also introduce us to an experience of ourselves that we can’t then find in our day-to-day lives, creating disconnect and dissonance with the life we have. It doesn’t have to be that way.

Over the course of six every-other-week sessions, you will learn an approach to practicing—whether on the cushion or in life—that is simple and sustainable, accessible and insightful.

You will come away with a practice that creates connection, clarity, and meaning within the life you have.

Sessions include:

• short guided meditation
• guidance on experiences
• intentional practices for integration

Space is limited to 12
Cost is “sliding-scale“ $150 / $180 / $210
Pay what you can, how you can

NOTES:
Please plan to arrive 10 minutes before each session so you can get comfortable and settle in.

We’ll have metal folding chairs for you, and… if you have a cushion or something else you’d prefer to sit on, by all means, bring!

While attending the entire series is most beneficial, missing 1-2 sessions is fine.
