🏙️🗽 MEET BRAZAND THOMAS | BGR! x NYC MARATHON
Two years. One comeback. 26.2 miles. 💪🏾✨
Meet Brazand Thomas, a proud member and ambassador of BGR! Columbia, who is taking on the TCS New York City Marathon as part of Black Girls RUN!’s inaugural fundraising team! 🏃🏾♀️💙
For Brazand, this journey is about so much more than crossing the finish line. It’s about perseverance, community, and inspiring others to prioritize their health and wellness.
After suffering a broken ankle before the Chicago Marathon, Brazand faced a setback that could have stopped her in her tracks. Instead, she kept moving forward.
Now, after two years of working to become healthy enough to run an entire marathon again, she’s ready to chase that finish line in New York City. 🗽🏅
“Every mile I run is a reminder that setbacks don’t define us—our determination does.”
And when she crosses that finish line? She’s looking forward to the sense of accomplishment and pride that comes with knowing she never gave up.
That’s what Black Girls RUN! is all about. ❤️
BGR! creates a community where women of color are encouraged to dream bigger, move their bodies, show up for themselves, and tackle races they may have never imagined possible.
Brazand hopes her NYC Marathon journey inspires another woman to take that first step toward her own marathon miles. 👟✨
Brazand, we’re running with you! 🏃🏾♀️🏃🏾♀️🏃🏾♀️

Our 6th Annual eRace Racism virtual challenge has kicked off today!
Go solo or join a two-person team. 50, 100 or 200 miles.
It’s going to take our entire community and teamwork to affect real change. And, yes! Men can join us in this movement as well!
Join us to show the world that we run together against discrimination, prejudice and racism. We run for real change and that starts with one sister (or mister) at a time reaching across the race lines. Running is our vehicle and connection is our superpower. Invite your friends (open to men and women) to team up for this important virtual event!
Run, walk or hike at least 50 miles anywhere in the world between August 1 and August 31. Registration is open through August 9.

Forty days. 📣
It’s hard to believe that in just 40 days, our Black Girls RUN! family will be together in Richmond, VA for the Sweat With Your Sole National Conference.
Whether this is your first conference or your fifteenth, welcome home. 🩷This weekend is about sisterhood, movement, joy, growth, and remembering that She Is the Pace.
Every year, this weekend reminds me why we do this work. It’s more than a conference, it’s a homecoming. A place where women who may have started as strangers leave as sisters. Where we celebrate every mile, every comeback, every breakthrough, and every woman bold enough to choose herself.
I can’t wait to hug you, celebrate you, and experience the magic we’ll create together. Richmond, get ready... our family is coming home.
See you soon!
