This client came to me with a warm level 7/8 that had become overly porous from previous chemical services. Our goal wasn’t just to change the color, it was to restore richness while respecting the integrity of her hair.

Tint backs are a form of color correction, and they require more than simply applying a darker color.

Understanding underlying pigment, porosity, formulation, and proper application is what helps create a result that’s beautiful and healthy.

This isn’t about criticizing another stylist. I’ve been doing hair for years, and I’m still learning. Continuing our education isn’t a weakness~ it’s part of becoming a better stylist It’s about encouraging every professional to know their limits, ask questions, seek education, or refer a client when a service is outside their comfort zone. Chemical services permanently alter the hair, and our clients trust us to protect what’s on their head.

As stylists, our first responsibility isn’t creating the trendiest color, it should be preserving the integrity of the hair.
