A little reminder to myself and the world at large of why I opened my lovely little salon-apothecary in the first place, and why I still love it today. I have been deeply studying all things plants, ingredients, cosmetic science and both herbal and cosmetic formulation for many years and continue to deepen my knowledge through multiple programs, currently including deep dive in Botany and herbal medicine with the Northeast School of Botanical Medicine. I’m always happy to chat about all and any of it. To answer any questions on why we do what we do, how it’s done, provide info on all of the organizations we have and still support that are fighting to protect our planet, and about the indie brands and artisans we have and supported over the last (almost) 16 years and still do!

A peek into a botanical scalp/hair treatment using herbs and scalp/hair support made by local herb shop/apothecary and our sister shop ✨🌿
::
Treatment starts with a mild cleanse, followed by pressure point scalp massage and guasha using the hair/scalp serum by Botanic Providence. Star ingredients are Rosemary extract (known for its circulatory and follicle support), Lavender extract ( same as Rosemary with added benefit of calming effects), and Blue Tansy ( for its anti inflammatory properties). All infused into a combination of Argan and Abyssinian oils, known for their nourishing support for the hair.
::
The we allow the treatment to rest under red light therapy —often called Low-Level Light Therapy (LLLT)—which is beneficial for hair follicles. Research shows that specific light wavelengths (usually around 650 nm to 830 nm) stimulate cellular energy production, increase blood flow, and prolong the hair growth cycle to promote thicker, healthier locks.
::
During this time we serve herbal tea, including herbs that are supportive to the nervous system and overall relaxation to help ground the person in our chair, take some deep breaths, and to have an opportunity to just be.
::
Ending with a mild cleanse, plant based lightweight conditioner, and finally an herbal rinse with herbs that fortify the hair fiber, leave them soft, shiny and naturally fragrant.
::
Finished with a lovely blow dry and style using all botanically based products.
::
It’s a mini spa session that leaves you feeling and looking amazing! Did you know that could prepare herbal infusions for you to use at home? There are 120 loose leaf herbs in stock at , all for your personal tea blending / herbal rinse blending pleasure!
Do we have some of the most fun clients? Yes..yes we do. So back in the day this super amazing college radio station gave us the best in early alternative, great radio shows, interviews and were involved with all kinds of fun events and silly shenanigans… such as the“Scream of the Week” contest.

Rumor has it that WBRU is making a comeback! So many ways to define the super fun and versatile “s**g”. It’s also known as Wolf Cut, M.E.T. (Modern textured), The Rachael (90’s version), the Shullet.
•
Every era had one, starting in the late 60’s up to today. Many versions…all super fun.

This cute little s**g was don’t by using mixed razor and shear techniques. Razor requires the hair to be soaking wet when carving it out, and holding the sections with a lot of tension. The blade needs to be super sharp and angled correctly. Shear work was used as the hair began to air dry a bit to creat a little more density to the overall look, and to anchor some sections by creating a more solid strand ending, rather than an airy tapered one created by razor cutting. The blend is beautiful, especially on medium density.
