The “deepest” massage isn't necessarily the right massage for you.

More pressure isn't automatically more therapeutic, and feeling beaten up afterward isn't always the goal. A good massage should match the person's tolerance, tissues being treated, and what they're trying to accomplish.

Your hips don't have to be perfectly even.

Human bodies aren't perfectly symmetrical, and small differences from one side to the other are normal. What matters more is whether a difference is associated with pain, restricted movement, weakness, or a change in how you function.

If one side consistently feels different from the other, let us evaluate how you're moving and form a game plan

What if your “bad posture” isn't actually the problem?

There isn't one perfect posture that your body needs to maintain all day. Spending hours in the same position—whether upright, slouched, standing, or sitting—can be more relevant than finding one magical position.

However, there is an ideal posture for any given position/movement. That being said, variety may be even more beneficial than mastering one specific way of doing anything. Picture a baby sitting on the ground. They don’t sit perfectly upright for more than thirty seconds, they are constantly changing positions and better off because of it.

If sitting or working all day leaves you feeling stiff, stop in for an adjustment or schedule a massage and consider changing positions and postures more frequently.

One of the worst things you can do for a sore back may be absolutely nothing.

For many common episodes of low-back pain, staying appropriately active is generally more useful than prolonged bed rest. The goal isn't to ignore pain or push through an injury—it's to find the right amount of movement while the problem settles down.

If back pain has you afraid to move, come talk with us about what movement may be appropriate for you.

Your massage therapist isn't trying to “break up” a knot.

That familiar tight spot may not only be a ball of muscle that needs to be worked. The structure and nervous system may play an important role too. Massage may provide short-term relief using deep pressure and movement to influence soft tissues. For some types of pain, this might just solve it, for others, there may be deeper issues to address.

If you have a stubborn area that never seems to loosen up, schedule a massage and let us take a closer look.

“Cracking” your back isn't the same thing as putting something back into place.

That popping sound is usually a phenomenon called cavitation within a joint—not a bone being shoved back where it belongs. An adjustment is more than the sound; it involves a controlled force intended to influence joint movement and mobility.

Curious about what an adjustment actually does? Stop in for a walk-in adjustment and ask us.

Sometimes the best massage isn't about finding the most painful spot.

Deep pressure isn't automatically better, and more soreness afterward doesn't mean you received a better treatment. Effective massage should be matched to what you're trying to accomplish—whether that's reducing muscle tension and trigger points or just helping you relax.

If you've been putting off massage because you think it has to hurt to work, give it another try. Schedule your next session with us.

The way you pick something up matters—but so does how many times you pick it up.

There isn't one magical “perfect” lifting position, and everyday lifting doesn't need to be scary. The bigger issue is often the combination of load, repetition, fatigue, and how prepared your body is for the task.

Have a physically demanding job? We can help you build a better recovery routine. Stop by for an adjustment or schedule a massage.

Stretching isn't a universal solution.

Sometimes a tight muscle needs mobility work. Sometimes it needs strengthening. Sometimes it is simply responding to another area that isn't moving well. More stretching isn't always the answer, and figuring out why something feels tight can be more useful than repeatedly stretching it.

If you're constantly stretching the same area without lasting improvement, let us take a look.

Ever notice that your back hurts more after the work is finished?

Sometimes it's not the one heavy lift that gets you—it's the accumulated fatigue from hundreds of smaller movements throughout the day. As muscles tire, movement patterns change and compensation patterns form. Consider changing pacing, using proper technique, and prioritizing recovery.

If your body feels beat up by the end of the workweek, start here and don't wait for the weekend to fix it. Book a massage or come in for an adjustment.
