I think sometimes people see the makeup, the hair, the facials, the business, the confidence I have now…and they don’t always see the girl underneath all of that.

I’m really just an ordinary girl who wants to make other people feel extraordinary.

Most of my teenage years, I was the plus-size girl. I was bullied in junior high and high school for being heavier. For the gap between my teeth. For being “too nice.” I spent a lot of years feeling like there was always something about me that needed to be different before I could be considered beautiful or worthy.

As I got older, that insecurity followed me.

There were men who treated me like the “big girl” who would be easy to use because I wanted so badly to be loved. I wanted to be chosen. I wanted someone to look at me like I was relationship material—not just someone convenient when they wanted attention.

For a long time, I gave people so much love hoping that eventually someone would give that same kind of love back to me.

Then I had my son.

And for a while, I truly felt like that was all I needed. I was completely prepared to be a single mom, raise my baby, build a career and create a life where I could give people something I knew firsthand they might not always receive:

Love.
Comfort.
Affection.
Care.
A safe place to just be themselves.

And I think that is a huge part of why I chose this industry.

Yes, I love makeup.
I love beautiful hair.
I love skincare.
I love seeing a transformation.

But more than anything, I love the moment when someone looks in the mirror a little differently.

I love when the woman who apologizes for her skin realizes she never needed to apologize for it.

When the plus-size bride realizes she deserves to feel every bit as beautiful as anyone else.

When the person who is nervous walking into my room starts relaxing and realizes they are completely safe being exactly who they are.

When someone leaves my chair standing a little taller than when they sat down.

Because to me, beauty was never supposed to be about fixing people.

It’s about caring for them.

It’s about creating a space where, for an hour or two, someone else gets to be taken care of.

You don’t have to be a certain size.
You don’t have to have perfect teeth.
Perfect skin.
Perfect hair.
You don’t have to fit anybody’s idea of what beautiful is supposed to look like.

You can walk into my room exactly as you are.

My entire goal is for you to leave feeling loved, pampered, cared for and maybe seeing a little bit of the beauty in yourself that the rest of us already see.

And to every woman who chose Jaded Beauty this year and every woman who has trusted me since I first started this little business, thank you.

Thank you for sitting in my chair.
Thank you for trusting me with your skin, your face, your hair, your wedding mornings, your insecurities, your big moments and even the days when you simply needed an hour to feel like yourself again.

Every time you choose my business to help you feel beautiful, you are also helping heal a little piece of the girl who once struggled to feel beautiful herself.

One thing people don’t always realize is how much getting a tan or spray tan before the wedding can change the way your makeup reads. Skin tone, warmth, contrast, blush, bronzer, lip color all of it can look a little different once the complexion has more depth and warmth.
In the first photo, we have her trial look. In the second, wedding day after having more color to her skin and you can really see how that warmth completely changes the finished look.
Both are beautiful. Neither is “better.” They’re just different. ✨
This is also why I always tell my brides: if you’re planning to spray tan or naturally tan before the wedding, let me know! Your wedding-day makeup may need a few little adjustments from the trial so everything still looks balanced, seamless, and like you.
And that’s exactly what a trial is for; creating the foundation of the look, then making those final tweaks when the big day comes. 🤍

That is so much bigger than makeup or hair to me.

My goal is never just to make everyone look pretty for photos. I want every woman sitting in my chair to feel comfortable, confident, cared for, and genuinely beautiful when she gets up.

Knowing that my bride and her girls felt gorgeous and that her mom had a moment like that is exactly why I put so much heart into wedding mornings.
