“Extensions damage your hair”

If they are done incorrectly, yes they can.

If your grow out looks like the first photo, you probably need to worry about the health of your hair and scalp.

First photo is an improper install. Second is a good install.

The first photo, Her hair was just “moved up” and not removed completely. So there was not enough of her natural hair holding onto her heavy extensions. She was losing beads, causing a bad support system and uneven tension. Uneven tension means hair loss.

The second photo is a proper install. The foundation was solid. There was no bead loss, meaning no uneven tension. The grow out is smooth and even with no flipping corners and her scalp is healthy. “Move ups” at Glossed include completely removing the hair so it can be placed in a very slightly different spot to ensure a healthy scalp.

Today, I got the opportunity to teach Abby Jarrell my bright blonde technique.

Sharing knowledge has always been a passion of mine. Years ago, I told my co worker my plans to be a salon known for mentoring. A salon where new stylists can go and have faith they won’t just be thrown to the wolves.

I definitely faced some negativity. I heard “where does she think she has the credentials for that? But here we are.

Years later, I have a salon of my own and I have stylists who know they can come to me with anything. Just like I said I would. It so cool seeing them actively putting what I have taught them to work. I’m so excited to watch them grow!
