πŸ’š Meet Chris!

You may already know Chris, but how well do you know the person behind the massage table?

Chris loves anatomy, working with his hands, and continually learning new ways to help people feel better in their bodies. His approach focuses on understanding the source of pain and tension, relieving those areas, and helping clients understand how to better manage those patterns going forward.

One of his favorite areas to work? The scalenes, those often-overlooked muscles in the front of the neck that can contribute to head tension and neck pain.

Outside of Inner Roots, Chris is a proud cat dad to Raja & Thelma. πŸˆπŸˆβ€β¬›

And if you're at a desk all day, his movement recommendations include squats, lunges, sphinx pose, and shoulder circles. So take this as your sign to get up and move! πŸ˜‰

We're grateful to have Chris as part of the Inner Roots team and hope you enjoyed getting to know him a little better. 🌿

"If it hurts, the problem is being addressed."

It's one of the biggest myths we hear about massage.

The truth? Massage doesn't have to hurt to be effective.

Our bodies are incredibly smart. An old injury, even one from years ago, can cause other muscles to work harder to compensate. Over time, those overworked areas become tight, sore, and sensitive.

Adding more pressure isn't always the answer.

Sometimes the greatest relief comes from slowing down. Lighter pressure. Hot stones. Techniques that help calm your nervous system instead of giving it something else to fight against.

Every body is different, which is why every session at Inner Roots Wellness is tailored to you, not to a one-size-fits-all idea of what massage "should" feel like.
And yes, every tool we use, including hot stones, is part of your session. No surprise add-on fees. Just the care your body needs. 🀍

FAQ: How much time should I plan for my appointment?

We recommend setting aside an extra 15-20 minutes beyond your scheduled massage time.

Before every session, your therapist takes a few moments to check in with you about how you're feeling that day, any new areas of concern, and what you'd like to focus on. We also want you to have time to use the restroom, change comfortably, and never feel rushed before or after your session.

For example, if your 60-minute massage begins at 3:00 PM, you can expect to leave around 4:15 PM.

While your hands-on massage may begin a few minutes after your scheduled appointment, as long as you arrive on time, you'll still receive your full 60, 75, 90, or 120-minute session.

Our goal is for your entire experience, not just your massage, to feel calm, comfortable, and unhurried. 🀍

Massage Myth: "Massage therapists can fix you."

We'd love it if healing were that simple. The truth is, lasting improvement rarely comes from one treatment alone.

Massage can help:

πŸ’š Reduce muscle tension
πŸ’š Improve mobility
πŸ’š Calm the nervous system
πŸ’š Increase body awareness
πŸ’š Support your body's natural recovery

Your overall well-being is also shaped by things like:

🧑 Managing stress
🧑 Getting quality sleep
🧑 Staying hydrated
🧑 Moving your body regularly
🧑 Building strength
🧑 Healthy posture and ergonomics
🧑 Working alongside your healthcare providers when needed
🧑 Consistency over time

Be cautious of anyone who promises to completely "fix" everything in one session. Healing is rarely that simple.

At Inner Roots Wellness, we don't promise miracles. We promise personalized care.
We believe the best results come from realistic expectations, a personalized approach, and partnering with you every step of your wellness journey. 🌱

πŸ’š Meet Elizabeth!

Please help us welcome Elizabeth Clement to the Inner Roots Wellness team!

Elizabeth loves creating massages that are personalized to what your body needs that day. She especially enjoys incorporating scalp and facial massage because those small muscles hold more tension than many people realize.

When she's not helping clients feel their best, she's spending time with her rescue dog, Milo, or reminding everyone to take a break for a few Wall Angels at their desk.

We're so happy she's here, and we can't wait for you to meet her! 🧑

It's funny how our bodies all tell a different story.

For some people, it's tension headaches.
For others, it's tight shoulders, an aching low back, or a jaw that just won't relax.

Your body has its own way of saying, "Hey. I need a break."

What signs does your body give you when life starts feeling overwhelming?
