Open Body Therapeutics
At Open Body Therapeutics, healing begins by learning how to listen to your body instead of pushing past it.
Through intentional bodywork, each session is designed to gently move from survival mode into a state of balance, awareness, and deep relaxationš«¶
To walk into a place I originally built for my own sanity, and later realized I was building for my clients, too āØ
This job may seem repetitive from the outside: my hands may hurt, my back may ache, I may change the same sheets over and over again, and some days Iām exhausted before I even make it home, BUT every clientās body and nervous system is telling a different story!
Every person needs something different from me that day, and I get to slow down, listen, and meet them where they are š« Somewhere between turning the lights on in the morning and shutting them off at the end of the day, Iām reminded how much I really love this little career Iāve built for myself.
Healing doesnāt always have to be so serious!
Some days you need silence. Some days you need to vent. And some days you need a friend.
I adapt to what you need that day⦠but just know that if youāve got tea, Iām seated, and it does NOT leave this room šµāØ
JK š these services are complimentary with your massage.
But seriously, Iām happy to assist wherever Iām needed. Whether Iām your massage therapist, body awareness educator, unofficial life coach, listening ear, or just the person you come to when you need an hour to shut the world out ā I love ALL the different roles I get to play in my clientsā lives š«¶
Come for the bodywork, stay for the unsolicited life discussions and occasional tea š«
Ever heard of the platysma? Most people havenātābut chances are, itās holding more tension than you realize.
The platysma is a thin sheet of muscle that starts along your upper chest and collarbone and travels up the front of your neck to your jaw and lower face. Because it connects so many areas, it often becomes overworked from jaw clenching, stress, looking down at your phone, poor posture, mouth breathing, or simply carrying tension throughout the day.
When this muscle becomes tight, you may notice:
⨠Jaw tension or clenching
⨠Tightness through the front of your neck
⨠A pulling sensation across your collarbones or upper chest
⨠Rounded shoulders and increased tension through the upper traps
⨠Feeling like you can never fully relax your neck
Stretching your platysma helps lengthen the front of the neck and chest, encourages your shoulders to soften, and can bring awareness to an area we rarely think aboutābut use constantly. While one stretch isnāt a cure-all, itās a simple way to remind your body that it doesnāt have to hold on so tightly.
š«¶ Did you try it? Where did you feel the stretch the most? Iād love to know!
Your body has been dropping hints.
The tension in your shoulders.
The headaches that keep coming back.
The jaw you didnāt realize was clenched.
The feeling that youāre always āon.ā
This is your sign to stop putting yourself at the bottom of your own list.
Book the massage.
Take the break.
Make yourself a priority.
Your nervous system deserves care, too š«¶
In my defense⦠Itās definitely the ADHD.
Time blindness is so real, and somehow my brain is convinced a 15-minute drive only takes 6 minutes. Add in carrying half my treatment room in from my car, and suddenly Iām doing the awkward speed walk to the door.
And no, you donāt have to help me carry everything⦠but thank you to every client who offers anyway š«¶ I appreciate your patience more than you know.
When you book a massage at Open Body Therapeutics, thereās one thing I hope you know:
⨠I ADVOCATE FOR YOUR NERVOUS SYSTEM āØ
Every session is customized to support your body, not overwhelm it. The pace, pressure, and intention are chosen based on what your nervous system can receive ā not simply how much pressure it can tolerate.
I wonāt force your body to relax, because true relaxation canāt be forced. It happens when your body feels safe. Thatās why every detail of your experience is intentional: from the atmosphere to the complimentary enhancements like cupping, heated gua sha, Himalayan salt stones, aromatherapy, and therapeutic oils. Theyāre all there to help create an environment where your body can soften, let go, and simply be.
Iām incredibly proud of the care I provide and even more grateful for every person who has trusted me with their healing.
Thank you for allowing me to be a small part of your journey. I hope that every session helps you feel a little safer in your body, more connected to yourself, and more equipped to navigate the demands of everyday life š«¶
As massage therapists, the products we choose become an extension of our hands!
I finally found something that allows me to move with more intention, better support my clients, and align with the values I care about: Hafen Beauty massage oils have become that product for me āØ
I love knowing Iām using clean ingredients without hormone-disrupting chemicals or synthetic fragrances, especially for clients who are sensitive to what goes on their skin. But what surprised me most was how much it changed my experience as a therapist.
My clients leave feeling hydrated instead of oily, and the oil has given me the perfect amount of glide to slow down and stay more connected to the tissue. It may seem like a small detail, but sometimes the smallest changes have the biggest impact on the quality of care we provide.
Finding products that help me care for my clients the way I want to is something Iāll never take for granted š«¶
