The Naked Fig Soap Company
Soaps & Such
A weekend of firsts in New Mexico 🤍
My first market in New Mexico and my first Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta.
I came to Albuquerque with five soaps inspired by New Mexico and got to watch people smell them and share pieces of their own memories with me.
I also got to experience the Balloon Fiesta, something I’ve wanted to see since I was a kid. And it was every bit as magical as I had dreamed. A 4:30am start and getting to watch the whole field of hot air balloons launch into the sky. I will absolutely be back!!
A very full, very colorful weekend. And a special way to bring the New Mexico Collection to New Mexico for the first time 🤍
Meet Bosque 🤍
The Bosque follows the Rio Grande through New Mexico. I remember driving north along the river years ago and being struck by how green it was against the surrounding landscape.
I wanted this soap to smell like being down there beneath the cottonwoods. Green leaves, damp earth, riverbank. Good dirt.
Watching people smell it for the first time at the New Mexico market was fascinating.
Some people immediately loved it. Some said it smelled like running around outside as a kid, playing in the mud or being near the river. A few had that instant I know this smell reaction.
And some thought it smelled like a swamp. 😂
I love all of it.
Bosque isn’t meant to smell like a polished version of the outdoors. It’s green and earthy and a little strange — the smell of cottonwoods, water + dirt tangled together.
And for some people, apparently, the smell of being a kid again. 🤍

Meet Garden Embers, the feral one in the New Mexico Collection.
Smoky. Peppery. Green.
Inspired by late summer in New Mexico… gardens still growing, green chile roasting, and that unmistakable smell of smoke and pepper hanging in the air.
It blends smoky, fire-kissed pepper with the sharp green scent of tomato vine. Earthy, vegetal, a little unruly — and this one will absolutely hit you in the back of the throat if you aren’t ready for it.
Watching people smell it for the first time at the market in New Mexico was one of my favorite things. There was almost no middle ground.
Some people immediately moved on.
And then there were the people whose eyes lit up and went, “THAT ONE.”
Garden Embers found its people.
New Mexico started for me three years ago with a road trip with my best friend, Acacia, to our friend Chelsea’s wedding in Taos. 🤍
We drove through Santa Fe, and I fell in love. There are places you visit and places you feel strangely, immediately connected to… Santa Fe absolutely had my heart. High Noon General Store quickly became a must-stop every time I drove through, and Taos felt completely magical.
Since then, I’ve driven through New Mexico again and again on my way east. But my favorite moments have always been the ones when I’ve had enough time to slow down. To get off the interstate. To notice the landscape, the plants, the food, the colors, the smell of the air, all the little things that make a place feel like itself.
When I started creating state collections, I assumed the Southwest might be the easy part. That Arizona, New Mexico, Utah, Texas… maybe they’d all feel a little similar.
I have been so delighted to be wrong.
The more time I spend in each place, the more wildly individual they become. And New Mexico has a feeling entirely its own.
Seeing the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta has been a dream of mine since I was a kid. Getting to experience it AND bring the New Mexico collection felt so special.
Three years after that first road trip, I got to slow down again, this time with five soaps in tow, and experience New Mexico through the collection I’d spent months creating.
New Mexico, you have been everything I hoped you’d be 🤍
We had an inspo reel.
We had a plan.
We did not achieve the desired effect. 😂
But we DID spend an unreasonable amount of time on the sidewalk outside my studio swinging soap around, trying to figure out where to put our hands, and laughing so hard we could barely keep filming.
Jenn & Jordan, thank you for fully committing to the vision even when the vision was… questionable. 😂
New Mexico content creation: 10/10 experience
Actual ex*****on of the inspo reel: try again next time

New Mexico is officially coming together 🤍
The scents are formulated, the colors are set, and the final bar design is done. I should have the full-size mold trays from Scott Bischoff any minute, which means it’s almost time to start pouring the actual collection.
And the timing feels especially exciting because New Mexico is my next stop.
I leave Thursday for Albuquerque, where I’ll be vending at the Rio Grande Arts Festivals during Balloon Fiesta. Going to the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta has been on my bucket list since I was a kid, so getting to finally go and bring this new collection with me feels pretty special.
A few more days of making, packing and then we’re off to New Mexico!
Any guesses on New Mexico scents?

A full-circle day with State Forty Eight Foundation. 🤍
Last year was my first experience with State Forty Eight Foundation and the investment they make in Arizona’s small business community. This year I came back to share Naked Fig’s story and the impact their grant had on my business last year (and learn from another incredible group of entrepreneurs).
I got to see Handmade Jewelry | Curated Gifts | Y Mas! and Heaven in State 47 receive microgrants, vend alongside Brittny | Botanical Skin Care & Chemist and have Jordan Nuñez | Artist + Maker there helping me all day. And a special shoutout to Nadia Vasquez of Fair Trade Cafe | Phoenix Coffee Shop Since ‘07 for representing women in business as the only woman on the panel today 🤍
Grateful to be part of a community that continues to pour into small businesses 🤍
