If your jawline’s changing, buying more volume isn’t automatically the assignment.

Neither are threads.

A wound that keeps reopening, draining, swelling or refusing to close is giving you information.

Healing can stall for a lot of reasons. Pressure. Infection. Moisture. Circulation. Dead tissue. Blood sugar. Nutrition. Sometimes the plan simply needs to change.

Bring what you’ve been using on it.

Your jowls are tattling on the rest of your face.

They’re the part you notice. That doesn’t mean they get to choose the treatment.

The lower face can change because of skin laxity, soft-tissue descent, midface volume loss, changes in facial support or a charming little committee of all of the above. That’s why PDO threads can be a great tool for some people with mild to moderate laxity, but they’re not automatically the whole answer.

This is why I look at the whole face before I touch the part you circled in your selfie.

What changed?
Where was support lost?
What are you actually trying to fix?
And which treatment makes sense for the face attached to the jowls?

Because your jowls can file the complaint.

They don’t get to write the treatment plan.

How do you prepare for a hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos syndrome evaluation in Phoenix?

We recommend instead of studying for it, you collect all your receipts.

Old imaging. Lab work. Specialist notes. PT records. Previous diagnoses. The urgent care visit from 2019 where your ankle apparently decided ligaments were optional.

If you’ve got a Notes app titled “weird body things,” congratulations. That’s useful too.

You don’t need to arrive knowing which symptom belongs to what. You don’t need the correct medical vocabulary. And you definitely don’t need to build your own diagnostic flowchart at 1 a.m.

Your job is to bring the history.

During an Ehlers-Danlos evaluation at PERLA Bienestar Center, that history gets looked at alongside joint hypermobility, symptoms across body systems and family history.

Because sometimes the useful question isn’t, “Do I have the thing from TikTok?”

It’s, “Why have all these things been happening to me, and what do I do next?”

That one deserves more than an algorithm.

Hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos syndrome is a connective tissue disorder that’s diagnosed clinically. There isn’t currently a blood test or genetic test that can confirm hEDS. An adult diagnosis requires generalized joint hypermobility plus additional clinical features and the exclusion of other conditions that could explain what’s happening.
