We're back at it with our Praxis kids this week!

Our SkillCraft Explorers (ages 7-11) will be working on a nature-based engineering project tomorrow, and our Pathfinders (11-14) will be in the woods using the skillz leadership principles we learned over the last few weeks to complete a team challenge.

Visit the Praxis page on our site to get your child involved!

Our daytime Praxis sessions in Patchogue are a great fit for homeschool families looking for learning that crosses subject lines and gives kids room to think, build, experiment, collaborate, and apply what they know. Here's what we're doing this week:

On Wednesday, SkillCraft Explorers (ages 7–11) will meet for a nature-based engineering challenge. The session will draw on science, design, materials, history, and practical problem-solving while giving participants a chance to learn through direct experience.

Thursday, Praxis: Pathfinders (ages 11–14) meet for a Challenge Lab built around a multistep project in the woods. They’ll need to combine hands-on skills with planning, communication, leadership, teamwork, and problem-solving to move from idea to completion.

That interdisciplinary approach is at the heart of Praxis: different kinds of knowledge become more useful when participants have to connect them, test them, and put them into action.

We still have a few spots open in each group.

What happens when the sun goes down and the shelter standing in front of you is the one you built?

On October 24–25, we’re spending 24 hours at Sands Point Preserve building shelters, making fire, exploring resources, sharing a campfire potluck, expanding skills, and settling in for a night outdoors.

By the next morning, you’ll wake up, eat a hot breakfast, keep learning, then break everything down until it looks like we were never there.

You leave with only the memories, the skills, and the confidence that comes from realizing:

💪 I can actually do this.

This is a Level 1 Challenge, so beginners are absolutely welcome. We’ll be there every step of the way to teach, coach, and help you thrive.

Want to play along at home? Our SkillCraft Explorers will be heading into the woods to search for life, habitat, and evidence of human impact in nature.

How many of these scavenger hunt tasks can your 7-11 years old complete?
