For me, this isn’t just about changing my hair color. It’s personal.

My friend Mark’s wife Susan was diagnosed with breast cancer. When she was going through that difficult time, I decided to dye my hair pink to show her that she wasn’t alone.

And when she saw it, she smiled. She laughed.

It might have seemed like such a small thing, but that moment stayed with me.

In the middle of everything she was going through, I was able to make her smile. And that’s when I realized something: sometimes, spreading awareness isn’t about doing something huge. Sometimes, it’s about doing one small thing that reminds someone they are loved, supported, and not alone.

Sadly, she eventually lost her battle with breast cancer.

But her smile and her laughter never left me.

So I continue to dye my hair pink in her memory, and for everyone who has been affected by breast cancer. For the women and men fighting it, for the survivors, for the families who stand beside them, and for the loved ones we’ve lost.

If something as simple as pink hair can start a conversation, encourage someone to get checked, or make someone smile when they need it most, then I’ll keep doing it.

This is my reason.

This is why I go pink.

For Sue. For her family. For everyone fighting. And for everyone we’ve lost.

Breast cancer awareness matters because behind every diagnosis is a person, a family, and a story.

So please, talk about it. Get checked. Encourage the people you love to take care of themselves.

And if my pink hair can help spread that message even a little bit, then it’s worth every shade of pink.
