You've probably heard us use the word fibrosis, especially when we're talking about post-operative recovery or lymphedema.
But what does it actually mean?
Fibrosis refers to an excessive buildup and remodeling of fibrous connective tissue. In the types of cases relevant to LM Therapeutics, it may develop during post-surgical healing or as part of chronic tissue changes associated with lymphedema.
Fibrotic tissue may feel firmer, thicker or less mobile.
And importantly: not every hard area, lump or post-operative change is fibrosis.

This is one of those moments where Lili starts working and ends up giving us a mini lesson at the same time.
Cupping uses suction to lift the skin and superficial tissues.
What many people call "scraping" is a form of instrument-assisted soft-tissue mobilization, where a tool is moved across the skin as part of hands-on soft-tissue treatment.
These techniques may be used as part of a broader therapeutic session depending on the person's needs.
You'll hear LILI talk about fascia and restrictions in this video, but one clarification is important: we wouldn't scientifically describe either technique as literally "breaking up fascia." Research on instrument-assisted soft-tissue mobilization is mixed, and its exact mechanisms are still being studied.
The bigger takeaway? Different bodies may need different tools.

I love cupping because it really does help release the tension in the tissue. It helps with circulation at the same time. Cupping helps the tightness, range of motion. It is also great to help calm the nervous system down, calming it will help release muscle tissue in the body by calming the brain.
