Pure Avidity Salon
A Safe Place For Curls! Pure Avidity Salon is a studio salon in the Orlando S**o area.
No one is born knowing how to take care of their curls.
There is no natural instinct that develops the moment our curls come in.
Living in a world that has for so long ignored and looked down on curls its no wonder why many of us have been taught to care for our curls the same why one cares for straight hair.
BUT curls are different!
And they don’t always thrive when treated the same as straight hair.
Curls just have different requirements and needs.
They deserve to be care for in a way that nourishes them!
This is why at Pure Avidity Salon teaching guest about their curls and how to care for them is so crucial in every new guest appointment.
It’s time to take the guess work out of curl care, and Pure Avidity Salon is ready to set up for success!
Working with intent!
Wash day can be a gamble.
My advice to increase your odds of having a good hair day is to work with intent while washing and styling.
Everything you’re doing or not doing while washing and styling effects the final outcome of your look.
This is why working with intent is so important.
Condition with the goal of removing frizz, styling with the intent of making sure all the hair is saturated with product.
Even scrunching out excess moisture with the intent of not creating frizz in the curls makes a difference if definition and style longevity is your goal, like I did in this video!
Working with intent, is a lot about the technique and taking a few extra minutes of your time.
Sometimes it’s as small as giving yourself an extra 2-5 minutes when washing and styling can yield result that are more consistent, and take a bit of the gamble out of wash day!

I can tell you over and over curls are magic.
But some times you just need to see it for yourself!

I’m pretty sure people think I’m a little crazy when I start talking about curls!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It’s a fine line between crazy and passionate, and I’m well aware I jump rope with that fine line on a regular basis.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
When it comes to curls my brain is always thinking about the who, what, where, why, and how!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I want to know it all!!!
The science of hair, how curls react to products and different ingredients excites me!!!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Being able to visualize and demonstrate to my guest why they experience frizz, or why they aren’t able to achieve their desired look is fun for me!
See people have those big ah-ha moments about how to care for their curls brings me joy.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Once people know what is happening with your curls then you can address how to fix the problem!!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Having the right curl knowledge can change your life and help you love, respect and see the beauty in your curls!!!
It’s not always about how much hair you take off but where you take it from that makes the difference.
Haircutting is more than making random snips here and there.
It’s about creating shapes and accentuating texture to create beauty.
A good haircut is true art work!
Have you ever had a haircut that after every wash the hair just fell back into place allowing the beautiful shape to shine?
This is the magic of a great cut!

The blog title said “tips for waist length hair”.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Just reading the words made me cringe!
Why?
Because with everything I have learned and everything I know about curls having healthy waist length curls is not a realistic goal for a large population of people.
Myself included!
Not that a people with curls can’t grow your hair long enough to pull a curl and it reach your waist, cause they can.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
But to have curly hair in its dry curly state that lives and hangs down to my waist is something I will personally never have, and I’m ok with that!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I’ve rocked my natural curls for 14 years and I’ve learned a lot during that time.
No matter how long my hair gets it usually curls up and shrinks to about the same place, that just my curls!
Also the more my hair grows the bigger it gets! Not longer, BIGGER!!
For my curls, growth doesn’t show up as hair that falls down my back.
My growth shows up as how much of the sun I can block out, like an eclipse!
This is just my curls! This is their natural state! And I’m ok with that!!
Do I feel less than or like I’m not pretty because my hair will never reach my waist?…
NO!!! My worth or beauty has nothing to do with the length of my hair!
And your doesn’t either!! You are so much more!!! We are so much more!!

World Afro Day:
Today I celebrate for the little version of me that spent the first 30 years of her live confused by, frustrated and hating her natural hair.
So many of us grow up believing the way our hair grows from our head is a problem.
We’re not the problem! This little girl’s hair in the picture (me) is not a problem!
It’s the standard of beauty that we hold our hair too that is the problem, especially when the standard is the complete opposite of the features of our ancestors.
And so I celebrate for my afro for them too!
Styling your curls shouldn’t take up half your day!
You have a busy life, and if you do have half a day free I’m sure there are so many other things you’d like to do with your time!
But with all the curl trends and videos the internet had every curly person feeling like there not doing enough to have amazing curls.
And I’m here to tell you that’s just not true!
Curl care can be simple.
Cleanse, condition, and one or 2 styling products is all you need.
Air dry or diffuse, it’s your preference!
As long as you love the results you’re getting, and your curls are healthy you’re doing good.
Can you believe only one product was used to style these beautiful curls in this post!?
ALL CURLS WELCOME!
A little random video from my content archives.
A day in the salon, 2 different curls, both beautiful!
Working with all curls types and textures in action.
If I told you your curls were beautiful would you believe me?
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Just cause your curls aren’t like her curls doesn’t mean they’re not beautiful.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
In fact, because they’re not like other peoples curls make them more beautiful!
