Things I didn’t expect when I started walking with God…

I thought following Jesus would mostly mean becoming a better version of myself. I didn’t realize how much it would actually mean surrendering myself.

I didn’t expect it to feel lonely sometimes.
I didn’t expect to lose people.
I didn’t expect my priorities, desires, and perspective to change so much.
I didn’t expect spiritual warfare to feel so real.
I didn’t expect to question so many things.

But I also didn’t expect the peace.

The kind of peace that exists even when you don’t understand what God is doing. The kind of peace that comes from realizing that maybe your life isn’t falling apart… maybe God is simply taking it somewhere you would have never taken it yourself.

Walking with Jesus has taught me that I am not in control — and that’s actually where I’ve found so much freedom.

I’m still learning. I still have flesh to die to every day. I still fall short. But I’m learning that following Jesus was never about becoming perfect. It’s about becoming more like Him.

And sometimes that means being misunderstood, being different, walking away, surrendering what you wanted, and trusting God when you can’t see what’s ahead.

I wouldn’t trade it for anything.🤍
