A great day of connection, learning and camaraderie at the Advisory Council Meeting at Town & Country representing Greater Tri Cities IPA.

What stood out most was the energy of the people behind the scenes — leaders who have spent years helping shape better healthcare experiences, stronger member support and long-term advocacy for the communities they serve.

In our first photo, I had the opportunity to spend time with John A. Kafka, MD, Jeff Mason, MD, and Lynn Willette, CPXP. Great conversations around healthcare, leadership, patient advocacy and the history behind the work VEBA continues to do throughout Southern California.

I also enjoyed reconnecting and learning more from Madeleine Baudoin about her work in External Affairs and Public Engagement and how those relationships help connect members, organizations and resources in meaningful ways.

And, of course, healthcare is about much more than what happens in a doctor's office. Spending time with Leslie Myers and learning more about VEBA's nutrition and cooking programs — including the new Chula Vista center and free cooking classes — was a great reminder of how education, nutrition and prevention can become practical tools for healthier lives.

From patient advocacy and public engagement to nutrition, cooking and community education, there was a lot to take away from today.

Great people, great conversations and a lot of shared purpose.

I’m looking forward to staying connected and working more closely with the California Schools VEBA team moving forward.
