Being recognized for something I love and worked so hard for is amazing .

My road to becoming a hairstylist—and to building the career I have today—wasn’t exactly a straight one. There was a time when I felt completely lost. I left college while trying to navigate my bipolar disorder, and eventually found myself in a psychiatric hospital, unsure of what my life was supposed to look like.

Then I found hair.

What started as a career became so much more than that. Hair gave me purpose when I desperately needed it. It gave me a creative outlet, a way to express myself, and a way to turn something inside my head into something tangible and beautiful.

And most importantly, it gave me the opportunity to help people.

I’ve gotten to sit behind my chair and listen to people through some of the happiest, hardest, messiest, most transformative moments of their lives. I get to make people feel beautiful, confident, seen, and sometimes just a little more like themselves. That is something I will never take for granted.

Building this career hasn’t always been easy either. I took the leap to go out on my own without a built-in clientele and had to figure so much of it out as I went. Instagram became a huge part of building my business and connecting with people who found my work and believed in what I was creating. Slowly, one client at a time, I built something that I’m incredibly proud of.

Today, I get to come to work and create art every single day. I get to paint hair, play with color, make beautiful things, and connect with people from all walks of life.

So being apart of MODERN SALON top 100 means so much to me—not just because of the recognition, but because it reminds me of the road that brought me here. The girl who once felt completely lost could never have imagined that one day she would build a career doing something she absolutely loves.
