Let's continue talking about breathing!

Braxtyn Jordan is doing her diaphragm wake-up before she starts her warm-up, breathing is one of the most important starting points because it influences how the body stabilizes, compensates, and moves. That is why I tell my clients if you aren't breathing efficiently, you can't move efficiently!

The goal isn't simply to take a deeper breath. It's to help the nervous system and body coordinate breathing with movement more efficiently.

1. Reduce unnecessary compensation

When the diaphragm isn't being used efficiently, the body may relies more heavily on accessory breathing muscles, including:

Upper trapezius
Scalenes and SCM (neck)
Pectoral muscles
Other muscles involved in trunk stabilization

These muscles may become overworked and can contribute to tension and altered movement.

2. Improve core stability

everyone when they think core they think Abs, but your diaphragm is the top of your core. When you inhale, the diaphragm moves downward and works with the abdominal wall and pelvic floor to regulate intra-abdominal pressure.
That coordination helps stabilize your spine and pelvis during athletic movements.

3. Helps regulate the nervous system

controlled breathing can help shift your nervous system from fight/flight/freeze to a better performance mode and supports recovery from stress.
This matters because athletes under pressure may hold their breath, brace excessively, or breathe rapidly through their upper chest.

A more controlled breathing pattern can help them manage tension without sacrificing the trunk stability needed for performance.

Yes my clients come to me for help with recovery but as I always explain to them, you are on your own more then you are with me, so you have to have tools to help yourself, you have to be aware of your own breathing and nervous system to be able to help yourself!

Hypervolt Go 2 10/07/2026

Hyperice/Hypervolt is having a special and today is the last day!

I think for percussion (massage) guns and the compression boots this brand is top notch!

I always tell my clients if everything is free I would recommend this percussion gun hands down, now you can by them off Amazon and they can be cheaper so I am just sharing if anyone is interested!

I get ZERO kick back from this!

Hypervolt Go 2 The ultimate portable percussion massager to help loosen muscle knots and provide relief on the go or at home. With a lightweight, versatile, and sleek design, it’s more than an ordinary massage gun.

Can poor breathing be affecting your performance?

When the diaphragm and breathing mechanics aren't working efficiently, your body recruits other muscles to help get the job done. These muscles start doing extra jobs they weren't designed to handle, leading to compensation throughout the body.

THIS CAN LEAD TO:

- Less efficient movement

- Reduced mobility

- Muscles that always feel tight

- Poor recovery

No matter what is wrong with my client we ALWAYS start with breathing to calm the nervous system and allow the body calm a bit. Usually the one thing my clients always say is the best thing I have learned throughout our sessions is breathing, because there are able to focus on their breath in any situation they find themselves in!

If you and I have worked together and you can or want to, please share how breathing has helped you feel or performance! below ⬇️

Douglas Heel | Be Activated is what I have been using with my athletes and clients going on 9 years now, my athletes the minute we even just work their zone 1 they see a difference in their movement and say show me more.... obviously Douglas himself explains this the best.

So for any of my clients or athletes that are trying to explain to others they are trying to get to come see me, show them this!

The body has two priorities.
Not getting stronger.
Not becoming more flexible.
Not even getting rid of pain.
According to Douglas Heel, your body is constantly prioritising two things:
• Breathing
• Moving
If your nervous system doesn’t feel safe, your body will find a way to keep those two priorities going-even if it means compensating.
Understanding why your body compensates can completely change the way you think about pain, injury and performance.
What do you think about this idea?
