What to know about when looking for SMP and why is SMP expensive? Scalp Micropigmentation (SMP) is expensive because it requires specialized artistic precision, extensive multi-session labor, and high operational overhead. Time & Labor, Skill and Training (continuing annual education is important), High liability insurance as well as overhead. SMP is not just jabbing the needle with ink onto the surface of the scalps. SMP is not microblading of your scalp! Too many nerves and cutting can create keloids or permanent raised scars! SHADING of the scalp will require several sessions to be done within the year; this process is not cheap either and done superficially thus the ink will fade quicker than the SMP procedure. 👌🏼Your SMP artist need to understand skin/scalp health and the sweet spots in the dermis to apply the ink or you could end up with an all over one color all black shade that looks like topical powders which in turn will turn greenish bluey within weeks or blotchy and botched scalp.
