By its own research, nine in ten people do not floss regularly, and the average brush lasts about 45 seconds. So instead of asking people to floss, Dyson built a camera and a jet into the brush head and let the machine find the gaps.

Anyone who owns one of their hair tools will recognize the move. Dyson does not make a gentler version of the old thing. It measures the problem and then builds a machine that cannot help solve it.

In August, summer hair doesn't show. The shirt is white, the skin is tanned, the light is high.

Put the same head above a navy coat in October, and the arithmetic changes. Cool, dark, matte fabric beside warm, sun-lifted, slightly brassy hair is a contrast, and not the flattering kind. The coat looks expensive, and the hair looks tired.

Crimped hair is back on the runway, and the first thing it reveals is not the style. It is the color.

Coveteur's Spring/Summer 2027 trend report from New York shows crimped lengths at Anna Sui and Christian Siriano, knots at Cult Gaia and Christian Cowan, and a general return to hair that looks handled rather than polished flat.

Here is why that matters if you have never crimped anything. A smooth surface reflects light in one direction, so a single flat shade can pass as dimensional. Crimping bends the surface into hundreds of small facets, and each one shows the color as it really is. Hair that was colored to carry variation — lighter ribbons, a deeper base, warmth underneath — looks richer crimped than straight. Hair colored in one flat shade looks like one flat shade, only more so.

The runway did not bring texture back to show off styling. It brought it back because the color underneath had become good enough to survive it.

This fall, the bob is meant to look slept on.

Allure calls it the boyfriend bob. Los Angeles hairstylist Dimitris Giannetos says people want cuts they can air-dry, tuck behind their ears, or wear with a pillow bend, and New York hairstylist Wendy Iles calls it self-styling.

The length sits between the chin and the collarbone, with soft ends. The work is hidden inside: Giannetos softens the interior with invisible layers or light texturizing, so the cut builds movement in rather than adding it each morning.

The bleached buzzcut has meant something different in almost every decade it has appeared.

Dazed traces it back to Gallic warriors lightening their hair with lime water to look fierce, then to military cuts designed to make men look the same. In the 70s it belonged to punks and skinheads. Dennis Rodman made the bleached version famous in the early 90s, and Eminem and David Beckham took it mainstream. The method is mostly preparation. Exfoliate, smooth on a thin layer of balm, let it sit, then blot off the excess, because deep pigment collects in any dry patch.
