Because of her passion for education, Kelly started her career at Arrojo Studio. After five successful years as a colorist in New York City, she became an educator at one of the top cosmetology schools in the city specializing in cut and color. A year later, she missed the creativity being behind the chair brings and joined the Hairroin New York Master Team. Her love for advanced education and color brought her to Wella. She now spends her days inspiring fellow hairdressers, and making people beautiful!

I love getting to do Alice Blackwood s hair because she always had a new creative idea… while still giving me creative freedom.
Her inspo this time was Mercury. We decided to go mostly gray with some blues on the ends to mimic the actual planet.
That blue is stubborn af so well be working with it until it rides off into the sunset.

The best way to try the new K18 Hair FutureIQ is on yourself, but when you have crazy thick hair like I do, the next best thing is your husband.

Setting realistic expectations is only half the battle: you have to make sure your clients can hear you.
In this case, Kelly has been my client for over a decade so I knew she heard me when I said she couldn’t be a rosey bleach and tone. We decided a heavy highlight was the way.
Our backup plan was a mushroom highlight- Although she brought me copper inspo pics too lol.
I was truly surprised to see how she lifted and in a few months we will do another round of highlights. She will be basically at her goal at that point.
I was running behind (lol obv) so these images barely do it justice but her formula was:
