When we formulated C-Shells, we wanted the protection of zinc oxide, but not the heavy, chalky feel mineral SPF is known for.

So we obsessed over the formulation: how it spreads, how it feels on the skin, and extra benefits we could layer in (like the gold standard of Vitamin C!)

The result? SPF 30 mineral sun protection with over 200 5 ⭐️ reviews.

❌ Myth 1: SPF 60 is twice as protective as SPF 30
✅ Fact: SPF 30 blocks about 97% of UVB rays, while SPF 60 blocks about 98%. Higher SPF helps, but it’s not double the protection.

👕 Myth 2: All clothing protects you from the sun equally
✅ Fact: Protection depends on the fabric, weave, color, and fit. A UPF rating is the only reliable way to know how much UV a garment blocks.

💦 Myth 3: Water-resistant sunscreen is waterproof
✅ Fact: There’s no such thing as waterproof sunscreen. “Water-resistant” means it has been tested to remain effective for either 40 or 80 minutes in water...after that, it’s time to reapply.

🏃 Myth 4: You only need UPF clothing when you’re hiking or running outside
✅ Fact: UV exposure happens during everyday activities too! Walking the dog, driving, or running errands all add up.

☁️ Myth 5: You don’t need sunscreen on cloudy days
✅ Fact: Up to 80% of UV rays can pass through clouds, so your skin is still exposed even when it doesn’t feel sunny.

🧑🏾 Myth 6: Darker skin tones don’t need SPF
✅ Fact: Melanin provides some natural UV protection, but not enough to prevent sun damage. Everyone can experience UV damage, premature aging, and skin cancer, so sunscreen is important regardless of skin tone.

The “F” had everyone guessing 😅

SPF stands for “Sun Protection Factor” ☀️ it tells you how much protection a sunscreen provides against UVB rays, the rays that cause sunburn.

It does *not* measure overall protection or UVA protection, which causes aging aging.

Always use a sunscreen that’s SPF 30+ and broad

For the record, you still need sunscreen with a lower UV index!!

Why don’t more sunscreens use vitamin C?

Because sunscreen is already hard to formulate, and some forms of vitamin C can make it even harder.

We chose THD ascorbate, a more stable, oil-soluble form of vitamin C, and paired it with 18.9% zinc oxide, green tea, and rosehip oil.

SPF protection first, always. But we wanted to deliver glow and boost collagen too 🤌✨
