Balayage is one of my favorite techniques for creating dimension,especially on curly hair. My client had a beautiful virgin base that lifted perfectly. Even though her hair was dark, we used a gentle formula since curls don’t need anything aggressive to achieve stunning results.

After placing the balayage, I did a soft base bump through the mids and ends to create a rich, illuminated background that allows the highlights to pop and prevents the pattern from looking chunky or stripy. Finished with defining the curl with a wet set and dried gently with a diffuser to lock in the style.

A root shadow can be the secret to the most seamless, lived-in blonde.
