Everyone talks about egg health. Letās talk about s***m. š§¬
When it comes to fertility, the conversation is often focused on women ā but male factors contribute to infertility in a substantial proportion of couples, and s***m health is an important part of the picture.
So, what actually affects s***m health?
1. S***m count
How many s***m are present in the semen.
2. Motility
How well the s***m move. S***m need to move effectively to reach the egg.
3. Morphology
The size and shape of s***m. Abnormal morphology can affect their ability to fertilise an egg.
And several everyday factors can influence these parameters:
š¬ Smoking & to***co ā associated with poorer fertility and s***m parameters.
šŗ Heavy alcohol consumption ā can affect testosterone and s***m production.
šŖ Obesity & inactivity ā associated with reduced fertility and poorer semen quality.
š„ Excessive heat ā frequent exposure to high temperatures around the testicles can temporarily affect s***m production.
š Anabolic steroids ā can significantly suppress s***m production.
š“ Poor sleep & chronic stress ā may also affect reproductive function.
ā¢ļø Environmental toxins ā exposure to certain pollutants, pesticides and heavy metals can affect s***m.
What can help?
A balanced diet, regular physical activity, maintaining a healthy weight, adequate sleep, avoiding smoking and recreational drugs, limiting heavy alcohol consumption, and managing exposure to excessive heat and environmental toxins can all support reproductive health.
And if youāre concerned about fertility, donāt try to judge s***m health by appearance, semen volume or s*xual performance. A semen analysis is the standard starting point for evaluating s***m quantity and characteristics.
Fertility isnāt a womanās issue or a manās issue. Itās a coupleās health conversation.
Save this for later & send it to someone who needs to hear it. š§¬
Educational information only ā individual fertility concerns should be discussed with a qualified healthcare professional.

Did you know pregnancy can change the way food tastes? š
Thatās because hormonal changes during pregnancy can affect your sense of taste and smell. Some foods may suddenly taste different, stronger, or even metallicāand foods you once loved might become completely unappealing.
Itās one of those unexpected pregnancy changes no one really warns you about. š¤°āØ

FERTILITY ADVICE IāD STOP TAKING FROM PEOPLE ONLINE š©
1. āJust relax. The stress is whatās stopping you from getting pregnant.ā
No. Stress and fertility are complicated, but telling someone that their infertility is simply because theyāre ātoo stressedā is not evidence-based advice.
2. āPut your legs up after s*x.ā
You donāt need to. S***m can reach the reproductive tract very quickly, and post-s*x positioning hasnāt been shown to improve fertility.
3. āCertain s*x positions will help you conceive.ā
Thereās no good evidence that one s*xual position increases your chances of pregnancy.
4. āYou HAVE to have s*x on the exact day you ovulate.ā
Your fertile window is about 6 days, not one magic day. Having s*x every 1ā2 days during that window can maximize the chance of conception.
5. āYour AMH tells you how fertile you are.ā
AMH is a measure of ovarian reserveānot a standalone āfertility score.ā It does not reliably predict whether someone will conceive naturally.
Your fertility isnāt an internet hack.
Before you follow the next viral TTC tip, ask:
Is there evidence behind itāor just someoneās experience?
Save this for the next time someone gives you unsolicited fertility advice. š¤
Youāre tracking your cycle. šļø
But are you tracking what your body is telling you? š
Your period is only one part of the picture. Your cycle can give you clues about whatās happening with your hormones, ovulation, and fertile windowāif you know what to look for.
Things like cervical mucus, basal body temperature, ovulation symptoms, cycle length, and changes throughout your cycle can help you understand your body beyond simply knowing when your next period is due.
Because fertility tracking isnāt just about counting days.
Itās about learning your patterns. Understanding your signs. Knowing your body. š¤

PCOS is more common than you might thinkābut the numbers only tell part of the story. š
From how many women it affects to how often it goes undiagnosed, PCOS can look different from one person to another. Understanding the facts is the first step toward understanding your body, your hormones, and your fertility.
Save this post for the numbers you should know, and share it with someone who needs to hear: you are not alone.
To all women trying to conceive, pregnant, or postpartum: please prioritise folate, omega-3s, vitamin D3, iron, and choline.
Your body is doing a lot. Give it the nutrients to support it.
Hereās exactly what each one does ā
FOLATE
Supports your babyās neural tube development and healthy cell growth.
Look for 5-MTHF, a bioavailable form of folate.
OMEGA-3s
Especially DHA, which supports your babyās brain and eye development.
VITAMIN D3
Supports calcium absorption, bone health, and normal immune function for both you and baby.
IRON
Helps make the extra blood your body needs during pregnancy and supports oxygen transport.
CHOLINE
Supports your babyās brain and nervous system development.
Because ājust take a prenatalā isnāt the whole story.
Itās about knowing whatās inside it ā and why it matters.
Trying to conceive can come with a LOT of informationāand somehow, no one tells you the basics. š«¶
A few things we wish more people knew before starting their TTC journey:
⨠Your fertility journey is about more than just ātiming it right.ā
⨠Preconception nutrition mattersāfor both partners.
⨠A prenatal isnāt something to think about only after a positive test.
⨠Male fertility matters too.
⨠Your cycle can give you valuable clues about your fertile window.
⨠And most importantly, you donāt have to figure everything out alone.
Save this for when youāre ready to startāor send it to someone who is. š¤
