From spreadsheets to skin science—my unexpected journey to Ayurveda.

Ten years ago, I was an accountant. Numbers made sense. People? Not so much. Then my own skin fell apart—acne, sensitivity, endless dermatologist visits that only masked symptoms. No one asked *why* my skin was struggling.

That's when I discovered Ayurveda.

I realized my skin wasn't the problem—my digestion was. My stress was. My Pitta (fire energy) was running wild, creating inflammation and Ama (toxins) that showed up as angry breakouts. No topical cream was going to fix that.

So I went back to school. Licensed esthetician. Ayurvedic Doctor credentials. And everything clicked: the bridge between modern skincare science and root-cause healing.

Now I help clients understand their unique Skin-Body Type through our 10-type framework. Because your skin isn't broken—it's communicating. A Vata imbalance looks completely different from a Kapha one. The herbal formulations, the lifestyle shifts, the healing journey itself? All personalized.

Your skin reflects your inner health. And once you understand *your* nature, everything changes.

If you've been spinning your wheels with skincare that doesn't work, it might be time to look deeper. 🌿

Ready to understand your Skin-Body Type?

Does your skin feel different right now than it did three months ago? 🍂

It should. And here's why: your skin isn't static — it responds to seasonal shifts in temperature, humidity, daylight, and even how your body naturally slows down or speeds up.

In Ayurveda, we understand that each season amplifies different doshas (your body's natural energies). Summer intensifies Pitta (fire), fall and winter increase Vata (wind), and spring can trigger Kapha (earth) imbalances. Your skin reflects these shifts.

That hydrating herbal formulation that felt perfect in winter? It might actually congest your skin come summer. The lightweight routine you loved in June could leave you parched by December.

This is exactly why a real Skin-Body Type assessment isn't a one-time thing. As a licensed esthetician AND Ayurvedic Doctor, I tailor your healing journey based on:

✓ Your unique Skin-Body Type (one of our 10 types)
✓ The current season and how it's affecting your digestion and skin barrier
✓ Root causes — not just surface symptoms

During a consultation, we identify which dosha is most active right now and design a protocol that shifts with you. This is personalized skincare rooted in science and Ayurvedic wisdom.

Ready to stop guessing and start understanding your skin's true nature?

What seasonal shift have you noticed in your skin lately?

You've probably had a facial before — the kind where the esthetician applies the same products to everyone in the same order. But here's what I've learned after years as both a licensed esthetician and Ayurvedic Doctor: your skin isn't generic. So your facial shouldn't be either.

An Ayurvedic facial starts with understanding your unique Skin-Body Type — one of 10 distinct types based on your dosha (your body's natural constitution of Vata, Pitta, and Kapha energies). This isn't just skincare theater. It's diagnostic.

Instead of a one-size-fits-all routine, I customize every step: which herbal formulations touch your skin, how long we work each area, what techniques balance YOUR specific imbalances — not just treat surface symptoms.

For example, if you have Pitta imbalance (excess fire energy), your redness and sensitivity need cooling herbs like neem and rose. But if your concern is Vata-driven (think dryness, sensitivity from dehydration), you need grounding, nourishing oils like sesame. Completely different protocols.

A standard facial cleanses your face. An Ayurvedic facial protocol addresses why your skin is struggling in the first place — whether that's poor digestion creating Ama (toxins), imbalanced emotions affecting your skin barrier, or energy dysregulation.

Your skin reflects what's happening inside. An Ayurvedic facial works with your body's intelligence, not against it.

What's your biggest skin frustration right now? I'd love to understand your unique Skin-Body Type and show you what personalized healing looks like. 🌿

I’m an Ayurvedic doctor and an esthetician. Most people are only ever offered one of those.
An esthetician reads your skin. But your skin isn’t deciding this on its own — it’s reporting on your digestion, your stress, your season. Treat the report and it clears, then it comes back.
Ayurveda gave me what’s generating it. But Ayurveda classified skin diseases — it never classified skin types. The sages were describing whole bodies, not faces. So nobody had built it. I did: The Skin Dosha Method™, ten types.
Send this to someone who’s been “fixing” her skin for years and watching it come back.
60 minutes, and you leave with a written protocol — your type, what to eat, what to change day to day, herbs if you need them, and care matched to your season, climate and age. $197, link in bio.

Ever notice your skin acts completely different in summer versus winter? That's not random—it's your doshas shifting with the seasons. 🍂

In Ayurveda, each season amplifies certain energies in your body. Summer cranks up Pitta (the fire dosha), which can trigger inflammation, redness, and breakouts. Autumn stirs up Vata (the wind dosha), leaving skin dry, flaky, and reactive. Winter deepens Kapha (the earth dosha), often causing congestion and dullness.

Here's the thing: your skin doesn't need a completely new routine every three months. It needs the *right* seasonal adjustments based on YOUR unique Skin-Body Type.

I work with clients using our 10 Skin-Body Types framework—which combines your dosha nature with your specific skin patterns. This means we can predict which imbalances are coming and support your skin *before* seasonal shifts throw it off balance.

Instead of chasing trends or reactive quick fixes, we're looking at root cause: how your digestion, emotions, and daily rhythms interact with seasonal energy changes.

The result? Skin that feels genuinely balanced year-round—not stressed, not compensating, just naturally resilient.

What season do you notice your skin struggling most? I'd love to hear. 💙

Winter is Vata season — and if you're feeling dry, anxious, or restless right now, your body is telling you something important. 🍂

In Ayurveda, Vata (the wind dosha) is naturally high when it's cold and dry outside. Your skin, digestion, and nervous system can all become imbalanced if you're not intentionally grounding yourself during these months.

Here's what I tell my clients: winter isn't the time to strip your skin bare or rely on harsh routines. Instead, it's time to nourish deeply.

Three ways to keep Vata balanced right now:

💧 Abhyanga (warm oil bodywork) — I recommend sesame or ghee-based oils applied to your whole body before a warm shower. This grounds your nervous system and locks moisture into your skin.

✨ Shirodhara (warm oil flowing gently over your forehead) — this releases tension held in your head and calms racing thoughts.

🍲 Warm, grounding meals — think kitchari, bone broths, and root vegetables. Cold smoothies? Save those for summer.

Your Skin-Body Type matters here too. If you have a Vata-dominant constitution, winter requires even more intentional self-care to prevent that dry, sensitive, or reactive skin.

The key: work *with* the season, not against it.

What's your biggest winter skin challenge right now? Let me know — I'd love to help you understand what's really happening beneath the surface. 🤍

You start an Ayurvedic protocol — and then what? 🤔

Often, clients expect dramatic skin changes overnight. But here's what actually happens: real healing shows up differently.

With my clients, I watch for these signs that their Skin-Body Type is rebalancing:

✨ Digestion improves first (less bloating, clearer bowels) — because skin heals from the inside out.

✨ Energy stabilizes (less afternoon crashes, steadier mood) — your doshas are finding balance.

✨ Skin texture softens before color evens (you'll notice less dryness or oiliness depending on your type).

✨ Cravings shift (suddenly you don't want that heavy, inflammatory food anymore) — your body's wisdom is returning.

✨ Sleep deepens (falling asleep faster, waking more refreshed) — Ama (those toxins from poor digestion) is clearing.

These subtle wins? They're the real markers of progress. They mean your body isn't just looking different — it's *functioning* differently.

I always tell people: expect 6-8 weeks to see meaningful skin shifts, because we're addressing root causes, not slapping on a topical band-aid.

If you're on a protocol and noticing ANY of these signs, your healing journey is working. Trust the process.

What sign have you noticed first in your own body? 💫

Your skin tells a story—and that story is unique to you.

At MySelf Ayurvedic Spa in Natick, we don't believe in one-size-fits-all facials. Instead, we use Ayurvedic principles to understand your individual Skin-Body Type and create a personalized healing journey for your complexion.

Here's what sets our approach apart: most facials address surface symptoms. We go deeper. During your consultation, I assess your Vata, Pitta, and Kapha balance to understand what's really happening beneath your skin. Is your dryness caused by a Vata imbalance? Is your redness rooted in excess Pitta? Once we identify the root cause, we customize every step—from herbal formulations to therapeutic techniques—to bring your skin back into harmony.

Your Ayurvedic facial at our Natick location includes:

A full Skin-Body Type assessment to understand your unique constitution
Customized herbal cleansing and exfoliation tailored to your dosha
Targeted application of Ayurvedic oils and plant-based formulations
Guidance on at-home practices to support your healing

Whether you're managing sensitivity, congestion, or imbalance, this personalized approach helps your skin respond from the inside out.

We're located at 35 Sherman Street in Natick, and we'd love to meet you. Call us at (339) 208-1788 to schedule your consultation, or stop by to learn more about how Ayurvedic facial care can shift your skin health.
