Six years ago, Emogene was an idea that lived on my kitchen counter, then my dining-room table, then every spare inch of our home.

I was still working at the hospital, raising a little girl, staying up far too late filling bottles by hand, and trying to make something I believed women deserved: skincare with real thought behind it, honest guidance, and formulas made for the skin they have now.

I could not have imagined the people this brand would bring into my life. The customers who have trusted us through changing skin, pregnancy, motherhood, menopause, hard seasons, new routines, and all the ordinary mornings in between. Our team who brings so much care to every order. The friends who encouraged me at the beginning, when this was just a homemade vitamin C serum and a very big idea.

Emogene was my grandmother’s name. It carries the kind of care, resourcefulness, and quiet dignity she brought to everything she touched. I hope you feel some of that every time an order arrives at your door.

I remember when my daughter turned SIX.

Still little enough to need you, but old enough to have LOTS of opinions. More personality. More independence. And you find yourself thinking, wait…when did you get this big?

Apparently, businesses turn six the same way.

SIX years ago, Emogene & Co. was an idea. Really, it was me, $5K of my own money, a pharmacy degree, a stubborn belief that skincare could be done differently—and absolutely no clue what I was getting myself into.

I knew science. I knew formulation. I knew skin. But running a business? LOL. No.

There have been formulas that worked beautifully and formulas that absolutely did not. Launches. Discontinuations. Labels. Boxes. Beakers. Shipping days. Late nights. Expensive lessons.

And somewhere in all of that, this little company grew up.

SIX years ago, Emogene became more than the name my grandmother passed down to me, and that I passed down to my daughter.

It became something I get to show up for every day.

And somehow, you keep showing up for it too.

Behind every order is a person who trusted something I formulated enough to put it on their skin. You tell your friends. You come back. You send me messages. You bring Emogene & Co. into your homes and your lives.

I don’t take that lightly.

Six years later, I’m still the chemistry nerd obsessing over an ingredient deck, trying to bridge the space between science and nature without asking you to choose between them.

I thought I was breathing life into Emogene & Co. I didn’t realize how many times over these six years Emogene & Co. would breathe life back into me.

So here we are. SIX. WHOLE. YEARS.

A little older. A lot wiser. Still learning. Still formulating. Still occasionally terrifying my team with, “I have an idea.”

And still building this dream the way we started: brick by brick.

I’ve been thinking a lot about why I started this. Not the business side of it, the actual reason.

Women who were tired of guessing, tired of buying things that didn’t work, tired of feeling like their skin was working against them. That’s still who I formulate everything for. 🤍
