What started as an organic skincare, wellness and beauty blog, written by a licensed esthetician, helping to demystify your skincare routine, has now evolved into a brick and mortar skincare studio in the heart of the Napa Valley. I retail clean luxury skincare and see clients by appointment. I specialize in anti-aging treatments that incorporate multiple modalities: Gua Sha, High Frequency, Microcurrent, Ultrasound, and Oxygen Infusions, to transform the skin. Head to https://www.theorganicesthetician.com/facials to request a service.
As the seasons change, so do the needs of our skin.
Shifts in temperature, humidity, sun exposure, and our daily routines can influence everything from barrier function and hydration to circulation and cellular turnover.
Just as we adjust our skincare routines with the seasons, our professional treatments should evolve, too.
I recommend booking a facial at least once per season (every three months) as a way to reassess your skin’s needs, address accumulated tension and stagnation, support healthy circulation and lymphatic flow, and nourish the deeper tissues that contribute to skin health and longevity.
Think of it as a seasonal reset. An opportunity to release what your skin no longer needs, replenish what it does, and support its ability to function optimally.
Because healthy skin isn’t something we achieve once. It’s something we tend to over a lifetime.
October is a beautiful time to begin. ✨

What if “anti-cellulite” started with care, not correction?
Cellulite is normal. It’s part of the architecture of our skin and connective tissue—and I’m far more interested in how we care for that tissue over a lifetime than in promising we can erase it completely.
One of my Principles of Tending is Manipulate: our tissues are meant to move. Massage, stretching, movement and hands-on manipulation support circulation and fluid movement, maintain mobility between tissue layers, and give us an opportunity to actually notice and stay connected to our bodies.
Which is why, despite the name, what interested me about PURA D'OR Organic Anti-Cellulite Massage Oil wasn’t the promise of “anti-cellulite.” It was the massage oil.
It’s a beautiful blend of organic grapeseed, moringa, wheat germ and sea buckthorn oils with botanical extracts that gives enough slip to actually spend time working with the tissue—rather than quickly applying a body lotion and moving on.
Because tending isn’t about finding another part of ourselves to CORRECT. It’s the ongoing practice of CARING for the body we live in.
And sometimes, that practice is as simple as oil + your own two hands.
Setting the room is only part of preparing for a client.
When I have a little extra time before my day begins, I’ll run the BioCharger while I set up, not just to prepare the space, but to prepare myself.
I believe the practitioner is one of the most important instruments in the treatment room. The quality of our presence, our attention, our energy, all of it becomes part of what we co-create with the person on the table.
So I think of this as tuning the instrument before I begin. ✨

Happy Equinox ✨
This really feels like a season for gathering.
On Sunday, a few of us came together around an edible altar, shared food and ideas, pulled cards, lit candles, BioCharged, talked, laughed, reflected—and communed.
I love these pivotal moments throughout the year because they create a natural threshold for reflection. A reason to stop and ask: Where have I been? What am I carrying forward? And what do I want to create from here?
We looked back over the last six months and considered what we wanted to harvest. What lessons, growth, experiences and parts of ourselves we want to carry forward. Then we looked ahead and chose what we wanted to seed for the next six months, setting an intention and lighting a candle to mark it.
There’s no right way to create ritual. I think the magic is simply in choosing to make a moment meaningful. To pause, pay attention, reflect and move forward with intention.
And doing that in community feels especially beautiful.

Nearly 17 years of working with skin has taught me that what we see on the surface rarely begins and ends there.
Skin exists within a body influenced by the nervous system, cellular health, connective tissue, fluid movement, nutrition, environment, sleep, stress, movement—and the countless experiences of being human.
And over time, that understanding has completely changed what I believe a “home care routine” should look like.
It might surprise you that much of it has very little to do with “skincare.”
Yes, the products we use matter. But so does learning how to regulate our nervous system. Supporting cellular energy. Moving and touching the tissue beneath the skin. Nourishing and hydrating the body. Paying attention to what our skin is communicating rather than immediately trying to correct it. And learning to age with our bodies rather than constantly fighting against them.
This is the thinking behind The Principles of Tending—my whole-body philosophy for skin, aging, and the daily practice of care.
Because I’m becoming less interested in asking, “How do we fix this?” and much more interested in asking:
“What is my body asking me to tend to?”
I wrote a new piece on the journal exploring all seven Principles of Tending and how you can begin bringing them into your own daily practice.

One of my forever favorites for dry, depleted skin ✨
PURA D'OR Vitamin E Oil is a blend of organic, antioxidant-rich oils that helps nourish the skin, replenish lipids + support the barrier when it needs a little extra care.
I especially love reaching for it when my skin is dry or compromised, and it’s one of my personal go-tos after laser treatments. I get lasers a few times a year, and during recovery I keep my routine incredibly simple—hydration, barrier support + plenty of nourishing oils.
It’s rich, comforting and gives the skin that juicy, well-fed feeling without needing a complicated routine.

Face dance.
When was the last time you touched your ears?
The ear is one of my favorite—and most overlooked—areas to work in a facial. So many important systems converge in and around this small space: branches of the vagus and trigeminal nerves, lymph nodes and lymphatic pathways, muscles and fascial connections, along with auricular acupressure points traditionally mapped to areas throughout the body.
A few minutes of intentional touch here can support lymphatic movement, soften tension through the jaw, scalp + face, and offer gentle sensory input to the nervous system.
It’s why I work around—and directly with—the ears in nearly every facial I perform.
And why I think we should all be touching our ears a little more often. 🤍
