Let’s bust one of the biggest pool hair myths…
❌ Chlorine does NOT turn your hair green.
💚 It’s actually copper in the pool water. When pool chemicals are out of balance, copper can build up in the water and attach to your hair, causing that green tint. Blonde hair (whether natural or highlighted) tends to show it the most, but brunettes aren’t immune. They can end up with a subtle green cast too.
BEFORE YOU JUMP IN:
💦 Saturate your hair with clean water.
🧴 Coat it with conditioner.
Think of your hair like a sponge. 🧽
If it’s already full of clean water and coated with conditioner, it has less room to absorb copper-filled pool water.
And yes… if you can avoid dunking your hair altogether, that’s even better. 😅
But if you insist on playing mermaids all day 🧜♀️ this little trick can make a HUGE difference.
One more thing… 🍅
Ketchup doesn’t magically “remove” green hair. The red pigments can temporarily cancel out some of the green, but it doesn’t remove the copper that’s causing the discoloration.
Protect it now so you don’t have to fix it later 😉
