We Care is hosting a Grief Support Group for those navigating loss.

Grief doesn’t follow a schedule, and there’s no single “right” way to grieve. This group offers a safe, supportive place to talk, listen, and walk through it with others.

📅 First & Third Tuesdays of every month
🕖 7:00–8:30 PM (Starting October 20th)
📍 We Care, 530 Bedford Rd., Morris

To register, call 815-942-6389 ext. 4.

The group is facilitated by Kathy Cherven, RN, LCPC, who has 41 years of nursing experience and more than 25 years dedicated to loss and grief counseling. She holds a Master’s in Counseling Psychology from Lewis University.

You don’t have to walk this path alone.

📣 Illinois Massage Therapists: Free 1-Hour CE!

The Skinny on Skin, offered by IMPACT Melanoma, is a free online course approved by IDFPR to meet Illinois’ abnormal skin growth education requirement.

Who needs to take it?

• Massage therapists licensed before January 1, 2026 must complete it for their first renewal or license restoration on or after that date—including the 2026 renewal.
• New applicants applying for Illinois massage therapy licensure on or after January 1, 2026 must complete it for initial licensure.

This is a one-time requirement. IDFPR has confirmed that the course may also count as 1 hour toward your general renewal CE requirements.

Learn to recognize suspicious skin changes and encourage clients to seek medical evaluation. Save your completion certificate with your CE records!

A Door to Peace

Take a slow breath in.

And as you breathe out,
imagine standing before a door.

Behind you are the things that hurt,

old words,
old wounds,
memories you have carried for too long.

You do not need to fight them.

You do not need to understand them all.

Simply be grateful
for what they have taught you

and gently close the door.

Breathe in.

Breathe out.

Now, before you,
there is another door.

A door to peace.

Place your hand upon it
and feel the quiet strength within you.

Open the door slowly.

Step toward the light
with nothing to prove
and nowhere you need to rush.

Leave behind
what no longer feeds your soul.

Carry only the wisdom.

And with every breath,
let your heart remember:

I release what hurts me.

I welcome what contributes to my healing.

I choose peace.

And when you are ready,

take one more step forward.

Our amazing staff is always up to something!

In August, several team members completed or renewed their BLS Certification, reviewing CPR and use of defibrillator. Thank you to Ready Set Rescue Training LLC to come onsite and keep our skills fresh in case of an emergency!

You also may see some of us out and about in the community, at wellness fairs and presenting self-care information. We love being a part of Grundy County's many events & groups.

Tonight we presented information to a local PEO chapter about taking care of our Lymphatic system, and demonstrating self-care techniques that can be done right from your chair.

Have you seen our staff wearing fresh new T-shirts, or rocking some new tote bags? If you like what you see, you'll soon be able to purchase some of our Healing Spirit merch!

Some of us will be working an event Tuesday 9/15 while the rest of us hold down the fort and have openings for you!
