My name is Tara — the barber behind The Dapper Fox, a wife, and a mom of two amazing kiddos. I’ve spent thirteen years in the hair industry, beginning my career in women’s hair. After COVID, I felt a shift. It was time for a change, time to rediscover my passion — so I took a huge leap into the men’s side of the industry. That jump brought me back to my craft in a way I didn’t expect. I fell in love with it all over again.

After four years serving this community, coming to this private suite with one intention:

To bring back what barbershops once were.
Not a rushed 15‑minute cut… but a place where men slow down, take time for themselves, and walk out feeling renewed. A place built on intention, detail, and calm.

One of my favorite parts of the craft has become beard services. Teaching men that everything starts with their skin — not just the beard itself — has changed the way clients care for themselves. With the products we’ve developed, men are seeing real improvements: healthier skin, softer beards, fuller growth, and a look that feels refined instead of rushed.

If you’re looking for a space to relax, reset, talk sports, or just kick back, I’m your barber. I’ve always loved sports — basketball was my thing — so whether you want to break down last night’s game or enjoy quiet time, I match your energy.

When you walk out the door, The Dapper Fox wants you feeling brand new and recharged — so when you go home, you’re dialed in, present, and ready to enjoy your family because you took time for yourself.

Outside the shop, I’ve fallen in love with golfing — a new passion that’s become part of my story. One day, my dream is to retire, grab an RV, and travel the country with my husband, playing every golf course we can find.

🦊 Meet the woman behind The Dapper Fox.

If you’re new around here, I thought it was time you got to know the person behind the chair — and the story behind this little dream that somehow became so much bigger than I ever imagined.

I’ve been barbering for more than 10 years and have been licensed in Texas, Indiana, and North Carolina. Starting out in military towns meant moving around quite a bit, but through every move, every shop, and every new chapter, one dream stayed the same:

Someday, I was going to open my own shop.

My love for traditional barbering really took root in Indiana, where I had the privilege of being mentored by an old-school barber who taught me the art of barbering, straight razor work, and beard detailing. Those skills have stayed with me ever since.

Behind the chair, my specialties are beard detailing, straight razor services, full-face shaves, and just about every kind of fade you can throw at me. But if you ask me what my favorite cut is?

🪒 The skin fade. Always has been. Always will be.

But The Dapper Fox was never just about opening a barbershop.

After years in an industry where bureaucracy and the business side of things were slowly sucking the fun out of something I genuinely loved, I realized I had lost some of my spark.

And I didn’t want to stay there.

I wanted to create a place where I could get back to the craft. Back to the people. Back to taking pride in every service I provide. A place where I could use products I truly believed in and create an experience that I would want for myself.

So I took a leap.

I started The Dapper Fox by myself, in a tiny room, with a handful of clients and absolutely no guarantee that I was going to make rent. 😂

I just knew I had to try.

And now, only 10 months later…

🦊 There are two of us behind the chairs.
🦊 We’ve welcomed 394 different people through our doors.
🦊 We were voted Best Barbershop in June.
🦊 We’ve built a community I never could have imagined when I was sitting in that tiny room wondering if this was actually going to work.

And somehow, we’re still just getting started.

Outside of the shop, I’m a wife and a mom, a lifelong book nerd and proud thespian. I love gardening — especially growing vegetables and sunflowers — painting pottery, practicing Hapkido, and generally finding ways to stay busy creating, learning, and doing something with my hands.

But more than anything, I love people.

I love the conversations that happen in my chair. I love watching someone walk out feeling like a completely different version of themselves. I love the artistry of barbering and the little details that turn a haircut into an experience.

That’s what I wanted The Dapper Fox to be.

A place where the craft matters.
Where the details matter.
Where people matter.

I’m incredibly proud of how far we’ve come, but even more than that, I’m humbled by every person who has trusted me with their hair, their beard, their time, their stories, and their support.

To the 394 people who have walked through our doors — and to everyone who has liked, shared, referred, booked, bought a shirt, told a friend, or simply cheered us on…

Thank you. Truly.

You helped reignite something in me that I thought I had lost.
