Simple morning habits but make it body literacy✨

Your daughter will receive messages about her body whether you speak or remain silent. The question is not whether she will be formed, but who and what will form her. Begin the awkward conversation. Share enough of your story to show she is not alone. Care for her physical pain and inner life. Surround her with women who uphold her dignity. Then breathe, return, and begin again.

Stay in the know through our free weekly email, then use the Right to Know Magazine to turn insight into a real mother–daughter conversation.

One conversation cannot carry the weight of a girl’s formation. Create a rhythm: body-literacy tracking, a monthly outing, a recipe, a craft, service, or a magazine activity. This is the heart of the Right to Know Mother–Daughter Hearth—doing meaningful things together so that difficult conversations have somewhere natural to begin.

Use the Right to Know Magazine cutouts to make a mother–daughter date-night jar. Pull one activity or question this month and let connection grow

Mothers often carry the visible work of puberty and health conversations, but fathers matter deeply. A father’s steady affection, authority, attention, and example can strengthen a girl’s sense of safety and help her recognize the difference between love and attention. Media matters too: Erica Scharrer’s content analysis of 136 family-sitcom episodes found that fathers were increasingly portrayed as foolish or as targets of humor over time. The study documents a change in portrayals; it does not prove that television directly causes children to disrespect fathers. Protection is not ownership—it is helping a girl know that her dignity deserves to be honored.

Share this with a father, grandfather, uncle, or mentor—and invite him to use a Right to Know Magazine conversation page with the girl he loves.
