One of the highlights was presenting virtually at the 12th Global Summit on Cancer Science & Therapy, where I shared the findings from my five-year retrospective review of more than 1,100 patients with non-melanoma skin cancer.

This research was inspired by something I see every day in practice. While a biopsy tells us what type of skin cancer we’re treating, it doesn’t always tell us how deep the remaining tumor extends before treatment begins.

For the past five years, I’ve incorporated High-Resolution Dermal Ultrasound (HRDUS) into my clinical practice to objectively measure tumor depth before treatment. My research demonstrates how this technology can provide valuable information that complements biopsy and helps us better understand the true extent of a patient’s skin cancer.

The goal isn’t simply to use new technology—it’s to make better, more personalized treatment decisions for each patient. Whether considering topical treatments, Mohs surgery, radiation therapy, or systemic treatment options, having more objective information before treatment allows us to plan with greater confidence.

I truly believe this is an exciting step toward precision dermatologic oncology, where treatment is guided not only by what we see under the microscope, but also by objective imaging that helps us understand the whole tumor.
